Job description

At Beam, you get to do work that really matters. We’re solving the world’s toughest social problems. And we’re growing fast 🚀

The Role

Beam creates impact for those that need it most, this impact is driven by our Operations team. As an Operations Lead, you’ll support a brilliant team of caseworkers (known as Pathway Coaches) and the amazing people referred to Beam (known as Members) on their remarkable journey out of homelessness and into stable work/housing.

This position offers the unique blend of managing a team that delivers a crucial service, alongside strategising and executing operational change. Both of which impact the lives of hundreds of disadvantaged people on a monthly basis.

📹 Check out the day in the life of a Pathway Coach on our instagram page for a glimpse of the incredible work your team will be carrying out daily.

You’ll be
  • Creating a positive, impactful working culture - You’ll foster a culture of high performance and top quality support in an emotive and complex environment

  • Making lasting change in the way(s) we work - Constantly looking at how we can improve, you’ll hypothesise and run multiple tests to improve our ways of working

  • Solving complex problems - no two outcomes are the same, you’ll find creative ways to unblock barriers to entry for various disadvantaged groups, ensuring our support plans are tailored to each member

  • Leading delivery on our contracts - Collaborating with our partnerships team, measuring performance and delivering to our contracts to provide the critical support our members need

You are
  • A people leader - arriving with an impressive background of managing high achieving teams: striking the balance between a positive working culture and a drive to achieve targets

  • A developer of talent - you want to get the most out of a diverse team! Our Operations team is made up of people from diverse backgrounds: ranging in age, experience, skills and life experiences

  • Entrepreneurial - excited to own an integral part of our service, constantly driven to get things done and lead from the front

  • Results driven - Constantly tracking KPIs and OKRs to support your team in achieving social impact targets on a monthly basis

  • Data led - Use data and numbers to make decisions and to recommend next steps

  • A problem solver - you thrive on meeting problems with creativity and innovation

  • Passionate about our service - a deep desire to revolutionise services for those left behind, excited by the opportunity to empower our people and build a working mode that scales impact

This role might not be for you if
  • You don’t like working to targets - We’re aiming to become the global standard for supporting disadvantaged people into life changing employment and housing. We set ourselves ambitious targets to ensure that we continuously level up the impact we create with our partners and members

  • You prefer structured environments - Beam is still early in its journey, which means we have many ways to change and improve: things will change quickly as we strive to get better

  • You like a slower pace - We’re facing a growing problem which means we have to act quickly. It’s our responsibility to ensure more people are not left behind!
