Location: Boston, MA       

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Remote

POSITION SUMMARY:

Serves as a primary resource for Principal Investigators, Program Directors, Department Managers and sponsors for all issues related to proposal development and fiscal management for grants and contracts. Assume overall responsibility for the daily processing of all research grant, contract, and agreement application documents within Research Operations. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the Grant and Contract Administrator staff, including training, delegating tasks, overseeing daily activities, mentoring, guiding through demonstration of best practices and offering opportunities for professional development. Conducts performance evaluations, submits timesheets; responsible for hiring, disciplining and processing terminations in accordance with established polices.
  • Drive BMC research administration education and training to both internal and external groups.
  • Manage continuous development and integration of function across Pre Award and Research Finance.
  • Uses advanced contracts and grants concepts to manage a high volume of proposals and subaward applications; many involving significant complexity.

  • Advises faculty members on the appropriate response to funding opportunities. Reviews and interprets proposal guidelines and sponsor expectations
  • Acts as administrative resource to research investigators, provides assistance, guidance and counsel during pre-submission administrative review, authorization and transmittal of grant and contract proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies to verify and ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory and financial compliance requirements;
  • Recommends process improvements, and timely resolves issues related to pending back-up or documentation, research funding, etc. to ensure meeting submission deadlines.
  • Assists with preparing research staff for electronic proposal submission, including registering investigators in e-Commons and other on-line grant submission sites.

  • Bachelors required, with 7-10 years of experience
