You are an engineering leader with an understanding of the challenges of SaaS. You have demonstrated servant leadership to build teams that can deliver high-quality software and want to learn, adapt, and grow. Experience planning across engineering initiatives; new feature delivery; production, operations management, and setting expectations.  

 

A proven track record that you are a leader who can quickly scale with the growth of your teams and make large impacts across an organization. Creating a technical vision and strategy to support future growth while creating impactful relationships to drive business outcomes.  

 

Position Overview: 

This position is responsible for leading the team that produces Vertex Certificate Center, a cloud-based paperless solution that automates and simplifies the tax exemption certificate process, implementing business applications and solutions in support of the business objective.  

 

This role services one of our biggest clients and is a Build-Run team doing everything from development, production, management, production status reporting, and managing globally distributed teams. It will require strong customer-facing skills and managing changing requirements. 

 

Role Responsibilities:  

 

Scope 

  • Supporting the team by removing roadblocks, listening to their concerns, setting proper expectations, and helping them excel 

  • Planning across engineering initiatives and new feature delivery to find a balance between customer delivery and the health of the organization. 

  • Contribute to the development of the technical vision and strategy, aligning engineering efforts with business objectives. Drive adoption of company goals, technical vision, and strategy within the teams. 

  • Track key performance indicators to measure team performance and project success.  

  • Forefront of customer escalations and drive complex issues or problems to resolution 

 

Excellence 

  • Building successful teams that have a learning culture and support each other. Providing direction but allowing the team to make decisions to accomplish their goals.  

  • Assisting teams with technical conversations, helping to drive conversations towards a successful outcome for the customer and Vertex.

Basic Qualifications 

  • Experience with a build-run team; support from development to production monitoring; Understanding /experience of Operational measurements and best practices. 

  • Customer-focused, ensuring quality in what is being delivered. Understanding of testing best practices. 

  • Monitors and manages delivery of services against Service Level Agreements 

  • Provides technical input for product and service features that affect online strategy. 

  • Research current best practices and current technology solutions. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with Software-as-a-Service (Saas) 

  • Multi-cloud background (Azure, AWS, etc) 

  • CI/CD 

  • Java, React, SQL Server 

 

Education and Training 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, flexible for the right candidate
