Job description

Job Purpose:

Job Title: Senior Direct Marketing Executive (Fundraising Acquisition)

Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 + benefits (dependent upon experience demonstrated) 

Location: Remote working with hub allocated when required.

Individual Giving Fundraising is at the heart of the Trust’s Fundraising Strategy, and with ongoing investment to grow our supporter database and accelerate income generation, it's a truly exciting time to join our Fundraising Team.

The Senior Direct Marketing Executive will be a key role within the Acquisition Team, as the expert in digital fundraising, a key area of growth in line with the Fundraising Strategy.  We are looking for someone who can support the Trust’s aspirations for digital transformation and ensure excellence across our digital fundraising activity.

Location/base: This role will be based from home, but with an office ‘hub’ for collaborative team meetings.

This role sits within the Individual Giving & Legacy team, reporting to the Acquisition & Development Manager.  It also works closely with the wider Fundraising Division, and cross functionally with other teams within the organisation.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Playing a key role in the strategy and delivery of digital campaigns to recruit new supporters to Canal & River Trust, developing and delivering an ongoing fundraising innovation roadmap to ensure continuous optimisation of our digital programme.
  • Working closely with the Acquisition Lead on development and delivery of a digital fundraising acquisition strategy.
  • Working closely with other digital stakeholders in the organisation to deliver a digital audit.
  • Line management of a Direct Marketing Executive, a role which will also focus on digital.
  • Being an expert in digital acquisition, conducting regular competitor analysis and attending relevant external events to keep abreast of opportunities.
  • Working closely with the Supporter Journey Manager and Development Team to ensure excellent supporter experience.
  • Developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders – from brand marketing and web development teams to creative and paid media agencies.
  • Ensuring digital fundraising campaigns are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Reporting closely on results of campaigns, analysing and making recommendations for optimisation opportunities.
  • Ensuring supporter records are maintained and that all digital fundraising activity is compliant.
  • Reforecasting income and expenditure for areas of responsibility.
  • Support the wider Individual Giving & Legacy team as required, including stewardship of other donor audiences during peak seasons and campaign support as required and agreed with their team manager. 

Person Specification

 

Essential

  • Experience of working on digital marketing projects within a fundraising context.
  • Proficient in the use of MS office applications, particularly Excel and Word. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, skilled at building internal and external relationships.
  • Experience of analysing digital campaign performance and optimising in order to meet fundraising targets.
  • Experience of working well within a team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willing to adopt the Trust’s values as your own: caring, openness and transparency, supporting the local community, involving others, and striving for excellence

Desirable

  • Experience of growing a digital fundraising programme, testing and learning across a variety of formats and channels to understand what works and inform future activity.
  • Understanding of Fundraising regulation and statutory data compliance,
  • Knowledge of Fundraising databases and customer relationship management programs
  • Experience of working in a fast paced and ambitious team environment.
  • Experience of using an email marketing platform.
