Job description

Job Title:  Geophysicist - Offshore

Location:  Offshore

Salary: Highly Competitive 

The Opportunity:

As the Offshore Geophysicist, you will have responsibility for the data acquisition, quality control, interpretation and production of offshore deliverables onboard our dedicated Marine Site Characterisation geophysical survey vessels. You will work closely with the offshore team, reporting to the Senior Geophysicist and Party Chief offshore and Lead geophysicist onshore.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for data management, quality control and production of deliverables in the field
  • Alongside the offshore team, ensure data is collected according to contractual and company specifications
  • Maintain accurate QC and interpretation logs
  • Conduct in-field equipment calibrations and verifications relating to the SSS, SBP, 2D UHR and magnetometer data
  • Produce field and operations reports
  • Produce in-field interpretations of the data, highlighting preliminary geohazards observed to onboard clients
  • Integrate 3rd party datasets with the geophysical data interpretations, such as environmental or geotechnical
  • Provide a final line of QC for project work scopes and lineplans at project kick-off
  • Provide technical input into the development of machine learning tools for data processing and interpretations
  • Manage time and resources required to meet offshore reporting requirements for each project
  • Work with the data processing teams to meet offshore deliverable timelines and data requirements
  • Support the onshore interpretation and reporting team where necessary
