Title: Floodplain Management Officer, Permanent - Full-time Role, 35 hours per week

Salary Range: $89,907.72 to $104,487.69 per annum + super (subject to skills and experience)

The team sits within the wider Environment & Climate Change (ECC) Group which manages complex environmental and engineering programs and projects to achieve quality outcomes for the residents and environment of the Northern Beaches. The Environment & Climate Change Business Group delivers the strategic and operational management of:

  • Catchment, waterway and coastal management including ecological, risk and restoration programs
  • Bushland protection and restoration including threatened species and invasive species management and the control of bushfire risk
  • Strategic environmental systems & programs, development assessment, climate change adaptation/resilience and corporate sustainability
  • Environmental education, volunteering and engagement
  • Development engineering including subdivision works, development approvals, co-ordination of s94 works delivery and certification of development works
  • Stormwater asset maintenance and renewal
  • Floodplain risk management

Our opportunity:

The key focus areas of this role include: 
1) Landuse planning and assessment of developments against Council’s flood-related development controls.
2) Project Management of Flood Studies, Floodplain Risk Management Studies and flood risk reduction projects.
3) Flood preparedness and response, including lagoon and dam openings, providing flood analysis in the lead up and during potential flood events, assisting with managing of Council’s flood warning systems, etc.
