Job description

Position Overview

We invite you to join a prestigious research institution as a Compliance Analyst II in a remote capacity. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in overseeing our export control and research security programs, while also providing vital support for our Conflict of Interest (COI) and Research Integrity initiatives. Your work will report directly to the Assistant Director of Export Controls and Research Security, and you will collaborate closely with the Assistant Director of Conflict of Interest and Research Integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of international activities related to research, academic instruction, travel, and shipping operations.
  • Analyze various export control scenarios, providing expert advice to faculty, students, and administrators regarding relevant policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit applications for export control licenses, implement control plans, and perform ongoing quality assurance monitoring.
  • Assist in the COI program by reviewing cases, aiding in COI reporting, and supporting conflict management strategies.
  • Design and deliver compliance training and educational materials to diverse stakeholders.
  • Engage with external regulators and university visitors to ensure adherence to compliance standards.

Required Skills

  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory frameworks with minimal oversight.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills paired with a service-oriented mindset.
  • Self-motivated individual with a meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to confidentiality.
  • Capacity to analyze and comprehend technical data relevant to export classifications.
  • Proficiency with specialized compliance software (e.g., Visual Compliance, InfoEd) or a strong willingness to acquire such skills.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree along with 3 to 5 years of pertinent experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional background.
  • Direct experience in research compliance areas, including export controls, research security, COI, or research integrity.
