The Core SRE Team Lead / SRE Chapter is responsible for driving the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) culture and practices across the organization. This role involves leading the Core SRE team, promoting best practices in reliability, scalability, and performance, and ensuring that critical systems are robust and resilient. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background combined with leadership skills to mentor and guide the SRE team and collaborate effectively across various departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor the Core SRE team, ensuring engagement and continuous professional growth.
  • Inspire and influence the broader SRE chapter to adopt and excel in SRE best practices, while fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Organize and facilitate chapter ceremonies, including knowledge-sharing sessions and postmortem reviews, fostering critical learning opportunities.
  • Develop and promote best practices for SRE across the company, including tooling, observability, monitoring, and incident response strategies.
  • Promote and govern the role of SRE Champions within squads.
  • Govern and track SLI/SLO frameworks and other key performance indicators (KPIs), proactively identifying areas for improvement in infrastructure and services to ensure alignment with reliability goals
  • Implement and continually assess the SRE Maturity Matrix to track and elevate teams performance.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the reliability and robustness of services, including proactive monitoring, fault tolerance, and capacity planning.
  • Implement strategies to enhance the reliability and robustness of critical services, ensuring minimal downtime and swift recovery from incidents.
  • Drive the creation and maintenance of clear and comprehensive documentation to support knowledge dissemination within the SRE teams and other technical key roles.
  • Participate actively in the recruitment and evaluation processes for SREs, ensuring the highest standards of technical and cultural fit and supporting career development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly the Infrastructure, Platform, CyberSecurity, and DataPlatform teams, to design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience of at least 2 years leading SRE or DevOps teams, with a strong focus on highly available and scalable environments, cloud infrastructure, observability, and incident management.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of microservices architecture and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes), along with proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and efficient software delivery.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting tools, with a track record of improving system reliability and performance.
  • Leadership in managing critical incidents, establishing clear incident response protocols, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through postmortems and preventive actions.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to actively listen and understand diverse team and stakeholder needs, demonstrating empathy in decision-making and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in influencing and driving cultural change within engineering teams, particularly in the adoption of SRE practices.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority, driving change across various teams and ensuring the adoption of SRE practices even in teams with competing priorities.
  • Ability to define and execute the SRE strategy, aligning it with company goals and driving the adoption of SRE practices across multiple teams.
  • Establish and communicate a clear roadmap to enhance reliability and efficiency, balancing immediate needs with long-term goals.
  • Comfortable navigating a dynamic and priority-driven environment, adjusting strategies and plans as business needs evolve.
  • Resilience in facing challenges and promoting a fail-fast, learn-fast culture that embraces innovation and experimentation.
  • Ability to advocate for reliability improvements while respecting the needs and deadlines of product and engineering teams.
