 We are looking for an exceptional Coder I  to join our practice! 

Physicians East, PA is a multi-specialty, multi-campus group based out of Greenville, NC offering a wide range of specialties.  In addition to primary care the practice offers pulmonary and critical care medicine, rheumatology, dermatology, oncology, endocrinology, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, gastroenterology, surgery, urology, and urgent care.  Our 102 providers and over 600 employees provide services for thousands of patients in a 29-county region.  Our specialists are on staff at ECU Health, a 900+ bed, level one trauma center and the primary teaching hospital for the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine (ECU-BSOM).

 About the role

We are looking for an employee that can work in a face paced office setting to help code charges for assigned section of specialty and subspecialty and communicate with physicians and staff regarding coding issues. 

 Supervision Received: Reports to Regulatory Services Supervisor.

 Supervision Exercised: None.

 Typical Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing or sitting while working in an office environment.  Requires some bending or stretching.  Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.

 Typical Working Conditions:

Remote environment upon training.

 Responsibilities

Coding and charge entry for assigned specialty and subspecialty

Code and post diagnostic charges for assigned specialties

Research missing ticket report

Maintain current working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT guidelines and carrier specific updates

Communicate with physicians, insurance staff, and related departments regarding coding issues

Research and correct denials if related to coding issues

Attend departmental trainings and meetings as directed by supervisor

 Location & commitments

Permanent full-time role based at our Greenville Arlington Blvd. location, Monday-Friday, 8a.m. – 5 p.m.

Remote position after period of on-site training

Flexible schedule

Candidate must be located in North Carolina.

 Candidate requirements

1 to 2 years’ experience working with ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS. 

Associate degree in Health Information Technology with R.H.I.T certification or certification eligible within one year of employment or CCS/CCS-P/CPC certification with relevant educational requirement.
