Your role in helping us shape the future:

U.S. News & World Report is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join the data warehouse team. By specializing in data modeling and data transformation within BigQuery, you will help build our large-scale data platform for reporting and analysis. You will work with a variety of ingested data sources to clean, transform and join together. The resulting data structures will be optimized for analytics and other activations. Reporting, visualizations, advanced analytics, and outbound integrations will be built on top of the transformed data.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports


You should definitely have:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering with a focus on architecture
  • Bachelor’s degree with STEM discipline
  • Ability to write advanced SQL for both ETL transformations and reporting
  • Expertise in data modeling techniques like dimensional modeling
  • Understanding of ETL / ELT concepts and exposure to a range of data pipeline tools
  • Experience working with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery (strongly preferred), Snowflake, or Redshift
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices


It would be nice if you had:

  • Background in data analysis and reporting
  • Experience with dbt and Airflow
  • Experience with Looker or Looker Studio.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as R or Python for data engineering tasks
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services and Redshift

  • The base salary for this position is $95,000 to $145,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, interview performance, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
