A Brief Overview

The US LBM Director of Application Development is a critical leadership role responsible for guiding a team of software developers in designing, developing, and maintaining custom applications. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership abilities to drive the development team in delivering high-quality, scalable software solutions that align with business objectives.

What You Will Do

  • General Overview:Work with a team of very hardworking mobile engineers to build and deliver the mobile and web roadmapWork with mobile product development closely to understand the product and customer needs; and enable the product and customer vision for the companyRecruit best in class and diverse mobile talent from the industryCollaborate with a wide variety of partners within business and technology teams to inspire change required to execute product roadmapsCoach, guide and promote creation of high quality, clearly documented, and compliant deliverables across engineering teams.Collaborate within and across business units to prioritize, plan, and implement the development schedule for major product releasesAccountable for build execution and delivery of custom applications, ensuring great end user experience.Participate in governance of custom applications including roadmaps, steering committee participation, and budget management.Manage user interface design of third-party applications.Ensure development projects are delivered on-time and within budget.Communicate with IT and Business leadership to align development efforts with company strategy.Provide input to product owners on technical issues.
  • Team Leadership and Development:Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support career development for team members.
  • Project Management:Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple software development projects, ensuring they meet the defined scope, quality, time, and cost constraints.Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to define project requirements and priorities.
  • Technical Guidance:Provide technical leadership and guidance on software design, architecture, coding standards, and best practices.Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to inform development practices and decisions.
  • Quality Assurance:Ensure that all developed software meets the company's quality standards through rigorous testing and code reviews.Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks to streamline the QA process.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with business analysts, system architects, and other IT teams to ensure that application development aligns with business needs and IT infrastructure.Facilitate effective communication between the development team and other departments within the organization.
  • Documentation and Compliance:Maintain comprehensive documentation for all development projects, including design specifications, technical requirements, and operational procedures.Ensure that all development activities comply with the company's policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement:Promote a culture of continuous improvement by implementing new development methodologies and tools.Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains within the development lifecycle.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in software industry building customer facing products with dedication, availability, and high scalability.
  • Mobile app development and/or experience leading mobile development team experience will be a huge plus.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or team lead role, with the ability to manage and inspire a team of developers.

Skills And Abilities

  • Extensive hands-on experience building and managing the development of complex, large scale applications and products that require a deep understanding of application logic and dependencies
  • Experience being a people leader, coaching, mentoring and guiding for highly talented technical teams
  • Experience attracting, hiring retaining and leading top engineering talent
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum or other rapid application development methodologies is required
  • Expertise in programming languages and platforms commonly used in mobile app development (React, React Native, Javascript, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and microservices architecture.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and departments.

Travel Requirements

  • 10-20% Travel.
