Description

Section 508 Subject Matter Expert

Xcelerate Solutions is seeking a Section 508 Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Headquarters and Contract Management Offices. In this role you will be responsible for providing expertise and guidance on ensuring compliance with Section 508 regulations within the organization. You will act as the primary point of contact (POC) for Section 508 issues and collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement training programs that educate staff on compliance requirements. The role involves conducting assessments and evaluations of electronic content, applications, and websites to ensure accessibility, remediating non-compliant content, and providing details reports outlining compliance status. The position requires that you stay current with updates to Section 508 laws and best practices, offering independent analysis and recommendations on emerging technologies to ensure that all information and communication technology (ICT) within the organization is accessible and compliant with Federal standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Section 508 Tier 1 support for the Regional and Command levels and act as the point of contact with the DCMA Section 508 PMO (Tier 2) for ICT matters.
  • Develop and conduct training programs on Section 508 compliance, including Web-Based Training (WBT), Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT), and Quick Reference Guides.
  • Assess, remediate, and validate electronic content for Section 508 compliance using the DHS Trusted Tester 5.1 process.
  • Conduct 10% inventory on ICT products to ensure compliance, including internal and external websites and data files associated with applications.
  • Provide analysis of new and emerging technologies related to Section 508 compliance.
  • Prepare and submit weekly status reports on Section 508 compliance, including statistics on issues, complaints, and resolutions.
  • Perform manual and automated Section 508 inspections, evaluations, and assessments of new or updated software, websites, and training content.
  • Provide Section 508 Compliance Assessment Reports, detailing non-compliance issues and recommended remediation techniques.
  • Review and evaluate new purchase requests, exception requests, and Section 508 product assessments for compliance with federal standards.
  • Support the development and execution of remediation plans for non-compliant ICT products

Minimum Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree
  • Required: 7+ years’ experience in overseeing and managing Section 508 compliance processes and implementing associated policies
  • Required: 3+ years’ experience managing projects of various sizes, with demonstrated capabilities to develop, implement, and report on resource-weighted project plans
  • Desired: Operational knowledge of the DCMA Section 508 Program
  • Desired: Ability to manage multiple competing priorities at senior leader levels
