Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEAL) Senior Advisor to join our team. As a MEAL Senior Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and advancing our MEAL framework, including designing, implementing, and refining our frameworks that align with our strategic objectives and that effectively monitor and evaluate the impact of our initiatives.

You will lead the collection of insightful data, rigorous assessment of project impacts, and the integration of accountability and learning mechanisms that drive continual improvement and strategic adaptation in our regranting efforts. This position requires deep expertise in MEAL practices and the ability to collaborate effectively with our grantees to enhance their understanding and capacity of implementing necessary MEAL systems, aligning their reporting with our requirements. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of experience in MEAL, with a proven track record of working within regranting organizations or similar contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement MEAL frameworks:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive MEAL framework tailored to Tilt Collective's grant making processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and effectively tracking the progress and impact of Tilt Collective's programs and projects.
  • Lead the creation of indicators, data collection tools, and methodologies for monitoring and evaluating project outcomes and impacts and the effectiveness of grantee projects.
  • Ensure the integration of MEAL practices across all the stages of the project life cycle, from proposal development to final reporting.

Data management and analysis:

  • Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of data to ensure accurate and timely reporting on project outcomes and impacts.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques to assess project performance and generate insights that inform decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Lead the development of data visualization tools and dashboards to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.

Support for grantees and partners:

  • Provide support to grantees, enabling them to develop and strengthen their own MEAL systems
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of capacity-building initiatives on MEAL for Tilt Collective staff and partners.

Reporting and communication:

  • Prepare high-quality MEAL reports, including impact assessments, lessons learned, and case studies for internal and external audiences.
  • Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to disseminate key findings and success stories from grantee projects.

Learning and adaptation:

  • Foster a culture of learning within Tilt Collective and among grantees by promoting reflective practices and the use of evidence to inform programmatic adjustments.
  • Lead learning sessions, after-action reviews, and other activities that capture and disseminate lessons learned.
  • Support the development of learning agendas and facilitate knowledge sharing across internal teams and external partners.
  • Contribute to the development of organizational strategies by providing insights based on MEAL findings.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree, or equivalent work experience, in a relevant field such as international development, social sciences, statistics, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
  • 7 – 15 years of experience in designing and implementing MEAL frameworks for complex international development, philanthropic programs, regranting organizations or similar contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity building and providing technical assistance to partner organizations or grantees.
  • Strong proficiency in data collection, management, and analysis, with experience in both qualitative and quantitative methods and proficiency in data analysis software.
  • Experience in developing and managing performance monitoring plans, logic models, and theories of change.
  • Excellent report-writing, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt MEAL approaches in dynamic and challenging environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainable development, food security, and environmental conservation.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; additional language skills are a plus.
