The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) in UVA’s School of Education seeks applicants for multiple Bilingual Wage Data Collector positions across the state of Virginia. The Data Collector assists with field-based activities of multiple CASTL projects, as assigned, which include 1:1 direct student assessments, data entry, and data upload using project guidelines.
Possible regions in VA where staff is needed include (but are not limited to): Southwest (Galax, Martinsville), Central (Augusta, Charlotte, Charlottesville, Culpeper, Franklin, Henrico, Spotsylvania), Western (Frederick), Northern Virginia (Fairfax, Prince William).
Primary requirements for this position include the following:
Spanish proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing
A HS diploma (or equivalent)
Some experience working with children in an educational or out-of-school setting (such as a summer camp or an after-school program)
Reliable personal transportation for traveling to, from, and between schools
Additional requirements include:
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; strong organization skills and attention to detail; and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word); proficient use of the internet as well as laptops, tablets, and/or PCs; experience uploading/downloading information using cloud storage platforms; and ability to troubleshoot technology
Ability to attend training sessions, which may include a combination of video-conference and in-person meetings
A bachelor's degree in Social Science, Education, or related field is preferred.
Pay range: $21 - $26 per hour.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving sitting to assess students one-on-one. The job requires daily driving up to 1 hour each way to schools; mileage is reimbursed.
