The Opportunity
As a dedicated Manager, Asset Recovery, you will manage a team of Asset Recovery Specialists responsible for consumer loan collection efforts in the final stages of delinquency which includes asset and collateral recovery including collateral sales. Oversees execution of process improvements, strategic planning and organizational process change. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations to effectively manage risks associated with the foreclosure process.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position will be based in San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Responsible for implementing and monitoring goals, objectives, and priorities established for the Asset Recovery Team including delinquency and charge-off levels.
- Supervises contractors to ensure work is being completed in compliance with Banking regulatory requirements.
- Monitors and enhances workflow quality, consistency, and production.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate SLOs and prioritization of work across team to efficiently support business partners.
- Evaluates performance of third-party vendors through scorecards and allocates market share accordingly.
- Maintains positive working relationship with third party vendors and follows up on escalations as needed to ensure timely execution of asset recovery initiatives.
- Directs any additional skip level work needed to locate collateral with third party vendors.
- Responds to regulatory inquiries and/or internal inquiries as necessary.
- Builds and oversees internal employees through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 6 years of collections experience to include loan servicing and foreclosure experience within a financial services organization.
- 4 years of experience working with third party vendors.
- 2 years of direct team lead, supervisory or management experience.
- Strong knowledge and application of Bank state and federal laws and regulations specific to recovery and collections.
- Advanced understanding of the asset recovery process and demonstrated application of knowledge, skills and abilities towards work products.
What sets you apart:
- CACS collection and ALS Financial Systems applicable knowledge
- Experience with assistance programs such as modifications, short sales, settlements, and deed in lieu of foreclosure.

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $74,210 - $133,570 .
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
