Position Summary:
This position will report directly to the Senior Manager of ETL Development and Data Architecture on the Business Intelligence (BI) team. The Sr. ETL Developer and Data Architect will help the IT BI Team resolve existing capacity issues and design for the future. In this role, you will be responsible for working with a team of analysts, data scientists, and report developers. This role will focus on building 'true' data analytics, data science, and data engineering environment to support the IT organization. You will lead the efforts in building the back end to set the stage for a 'self-service' environment for our end users. You will also be responsible for defining and for extending the enterprise data model for new capabilities and will work with both onshore and offshore resources to achieve our goals.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for designing the overall architecture of the EDW.
  • Oversee the data modeling process, ensuring that the data structures support the analytical needs of the organization.
  • Lead the integration of data from various source systems into the EDW. This involves designing and developing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes or ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) processes to move data into the warehouse while ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Optimize the performance of the EDW. This includes tuning queries, designing indexes, partitioning tables, and implementing caching strategies to ensure fast and efficient data retrieval.
  • Ensure that data governance policies and security standards are implemented within the EDW.
  • Provide technical leadership to the data engineering team.
  • Build highly scalable solutions using micro-service architecture designed to democratize data to everyone in the organization.
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders across the organization (e.g., business analysts, data scientists, IT managers) to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that meet those requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the data engineering team and the EDW implementation.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on data querying and analytics.
  • Identifies the most impactful use of data to solve complex problems.
  • Identify insights, opportunities and risks to the business, present findings, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Ensure that documentation related to the EDW implementation (e.g., data dictionaries, ERDs, technical specifications) is maintained and up to date and complies with internal standards and industry regulations.
  • Experience designing or developing a reporting semantic layer is a plus.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as IBM Cognos, SAP Business Objects, Tableau, or Microsoft Power BI is a plus.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 8+ years’ experience in a combination of business insights, advanced analytics, data analysis, statistics, strategy, and consulting.
  • 2+ years of experience as a project lead.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or data analytics is required.
  • Must be an experienced data warehousing professional with some leadership experience (7+ years).
  • Must be an experienced data architect (3+ years).
  • Must have experience building and architecting ETL data flows in at least 2 ETL tools such as SAP Business Objects Data Services (BODS), SQL Server Integration Studio (SSIS), Informatica, Ab Initio, IBM Infosphere DataStage (5+ years) or similar enterprise class ETL Tools.
  • Experience with big data platforms (Hadoop, GCP, AWS, Big Query, Azure) preferred.
  • Data visualization experience using tools such as Tableau or Microsoft PowerBI is a plus.
  • Demonstrate leadership and ability to earn respect and influence across functions/teams.
  • Client service mentality, adaptability, and willingness to collaborate openly with other functions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to quickly digest, organize, and deliver requests with little oversight.
  • Experience with ETL and data warehouse concepts, preferably with an Oracle database or Microsoft SQL Server database.
  • Data modeling - Expertise in data model design with sensitivity to usage patterns and goals - schema, scalability, immutability, idempotency, etc.
  • Strong business acumen, preferably with experience working in a consumer product goods retail environment and / or in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
