Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Project Architect.

Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism, and planning (inclusive of landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Our New York studio focuses on the Sports Venues, which encompasses everything from performance and development facilities to primary competition venues, ranging anywhere from small collegiate clients to the largest of professional leagues and franchises. We look to combine beauty, sustainability, resiliency, equity, and innovation in our projects and believe these values can be instilled in any project regardless of size or budget. Some of our recent projects include Intuit Dome, the most technologically advanced sports arena ever designed, and Foster Pavilion, a transformative new arena that will bolster the landscape of the University of Baylor campus, and University of Central Florida football campus upgrades that will propel UCF into a new athletic conference.

The role will be responsible for managing scope, and schedule of projects across the project lifecycle - from conceptual studies to full design and construction administration. Responsible for planning and managing project staffing requirements, updating project performance to the Project Manager, and identifying and addressing scope creep, schedule, or quality issues to ensure a successful delivery of assigned projects.

Job Summary:

  • Coordinates a team effort to deliver various sized projects through diverse design and construction phases.
  • Communicates with the Project Manager on project workplan, deliverables and schedule.
  • Ensures communication between project management, project team, consultants and Client.
  • Promotes project delivery through architectural guidance and technically feasible solutions.
  • Fosters professional development and mentorship for emerging professionals.
  • Working with interdisciplinary technical leads in coordinated successful execution of projects in design and construction.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of assigned projects.
  • Managing and supporting all technical, financial, and client satisfaction areas using established processes and tools.
  • Occasionally support business development efforts as required.
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team (i.e. Project Designer, Project Architect, and Principal in Charge).
  • Contribute to design development, drawings, in support of overall project goals when requested and directed by the Principal-in-Charge.
  • Coordinates a team effort to deliver various sized projects through diverse design and construction phases.
  • Managing subconsultant deliverables, and performance
  • Coordinating internal resources and third parties/subcontractors for the execution of projects
  • Developing and monitoring a detailed project plan to track progress and identify shortfalls in a timely manner.
  • Managing the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple small to medium size projects of a complex scope.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Architecture or related field + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Licensed Architect

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in 3D design software, REVIT, Rhino or similar preferred
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Navisworks and Dynamo
  • Proficiency with Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations
  • Desire to be mentored by leadership and provide mentorship to junior staff
  • Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture
  • Must be a highly motivated self- starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead large groups of technical minded people with minimal oversight
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines
  • Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team- oriented work environment.
  • Experience with sports, public assembly &/or higher education projects
