Overview:
Donohoe Construction Company, one of the most prominent General Contractors in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, is actively seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to join our Building Enhancements team. This position will provide administrative and technical functions to multiple construction projects including submittals, RFIs, scheduling assistance, document organization, processing owner and subcontract AIA bills, subcontract coordination, cost engineering, and general project administration.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for set up of project files.
- Responsible for administration of project closeout.
- Assist with development of trade scope packages.
- Work closely with project manager on day to day project requirements such as RFI’s, PCO’s, submittals/procurement, and meeting minutes.
- Review of submittals for compliance with Contract Requirements.
- Tracking and maintenance of Subcontractor / Supplier Contract Requirements.
- Daily maintenance of Logs and Tracking for multiple projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. (Degree in Architecture or Engineering preferred).
- Five to seven years’ experience working in commercial construction.
- Experience with building envelope systems installation: below-grade envelope systems, air/ vapor barriers, waterproofing, fenestrations, cladding, and roofing systems.
- Experience and familiarity with building envelope installation and testing standards including ASTM and AAMA standards.
- Preferred experience with building envelope testing, inspections, commissioning, or building envelope forensics investigations.
- Preferred familiarity or certification in Army Corp of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors, 3-phase construction quality control system.
- Preferred certification as IIBEC Registered Roof Observed (RRO) and/ or Registered Exterior Wall Observer (REWO) (or willing to obtain certification).
- Preferred OSHA 10/30 certification (or willing to obtain).
The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Physical Demands: This is not a sedentary position. Work consists of moderate to heavy physical activity. Employees must be able to walk and move around regularly and consistently throughout an active construction site daily, including climbing ladders and stairs, standing for extended periods, and accessing temporary routes and scaffolding while work is being performed. Employees are required to bend and reach on a regular and consistent basis, and to hold, grasp, turn, lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs. while onsite. Employees must be able to traverse the jobsite and avoid obstacles and hazards, while always maintaining security and safety measures. Personal protective equipment (PPE) – including but not limited to hard hats, face/eye gear, and safety vests – will be provided by the Company to the employee and must be worn by the employee at all times while on the jobsite. The work requires the ability to speak and to clearly see, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery, alarms, traffic).
- Work Environment: Primary work is performed at an active construction site. Some work, such as conducting phone calls and meetings, use of a computer or other technology, written and electronic documentation, and reviewing contracts/blueprints/budgets, may be conducted in a jobsite trailer or temporary office onsite, but these locations will often require employees to be able to navigate tight quarters with limited turnaround space and exterior stairs. The noise level in the work environment varies and could reach moderate to extreme levels for short periods of time. Work is subject to inflexible deadlines and the employee may be subject to work beyond the normal scheduled work hours and in extreme weather conditions.
- Telework: The work of Donohoe Construction Field positions does not lend itself to telework or work from home opportunities.
