Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing Insights and Go-To-Market (GTM), you will act as a catalyst to grow the impact of Zappos’ entire marketing and creative org through your expertise in project management and marketing operations best practices. Help us delight customers as the PM team Manager. In this role you are pivotal as a coach and org coordinator, ensuring project management and process excellence are leading the org in delivering on-time, on-budget, and on-brief campaigns. Your expertise in facilitating great creative work will enable you to lead successful brief hand-offs and creative process rigor, ensuring communication, collaboration, and efficiency are cornerstone throughout the process. You will lead a diverse team responsible for planning, strategy, and execution of a range of projects, ensuring the marketing and creative teams are well supported while also looking for opportunities to simplify, streamline, and scale work efforts.

Responsibilities:

Overall:

  • Develop and communicate a clear functional vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with leadership on key priorities and roadmaps to drive the team's performance and contribution to the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Scale team efforts through automation and process optimization, continuously seeking innovative solutions to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and enhance the overall effectiveness of project management activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with leaders across the company to ensure the Marketing team meets current expectations and proactively anticipates future needs.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and leadership to ensure marketing messaging is seamlessly aligned with Merchandising portfolio mix and Pricing strategies, working collectively to achieve company goals for top-line sales while maintaining necessary margins.
  • Be nimble and open to changing course at any time, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Creative Studio Alignment:

  • Own marketing brief hand-off process from Go-To-Market lead to the Studio team, and build structured collaboration between the marketing and creative teams in support of the content production process.
  • Drive alignment and manage communication between marketing and creative studio. Lead the team in defining and hitting campaign development timelines from brief hand-off, to key creative review milestones, and final content hand-off to channels.
  • Serve as a check and balance on overall channel strategy, ensuring that content aligns with and supports the broader marketing goals. This includes evaluating content alignment with channel needs and marketing objectives, and making necessary adjustments to ensure cohesive and effective content delivery across all platforms.
  • Assess channel briefs and GTM plans for clarity in thought and alignment to creative studio intake best practices.
  • Drive studio adherence to content management best practices including storage, tagging, and licensing.
  • Support integration outputs from the three creative team pillars (Creative, Brand, and Social), ensuring their individual activities and projects align to integrated seasonal objectives.

Team Coach:

  • Manage and mentor team members to ensure they become experts in project management within the marketing domain, providing guidance on best practices, and distilling tasks into actionable plans that drive project success and align with organizational goals.
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and mentorship to team members. Identify opportunities for growth and development through training and challenging initiatives, thus enhancing their skill sets and exposure to diverse aspects of project management.
  • Maintain an open door and open ear, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment where all team members and stakeholders feel heard and valued, and finding ways to work effectively with everyone to benefit the wider marketing department.
  • Remain highly analytical and methodical while working in a group environment. Enable your entire extended marketing team to better use data and technology to improve their jobs.

Project Management:

  • Drive an automation agenda for all manual marketing activities, implementing and leveraging advanced tools and technologies to streamline workflows, reduce errors, and improve productivity across the team.
  • Lead a team responsible for the meticulous planning, execution, and closing of marketing projects, ensuring all project objectives are met within the defined scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Ensure timely and effective execution of marketing projects by coordinating across different teams and stakeholders, maintaining alignment, and managing resources efficiently to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Act as the backbone to keep the marketing operations running smoothly, developing and maintaining robust tools and processes that facilitate the seamless transition of marketing initiatives from conception to execution.
  • Support future-facing channel pilots with a deep understanding of content team capabilities, available content, and industry trends.
  • Create and implement monthly deadlines, project goals, expectations and workflows to ensure a smooth production process with on-time delivery.

Agency Governance:

  • Oversee and manage the administrative aspects of the marketing team’s agency relationships to ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Manage Statements of Work (SOWs), contracts, Legal reviews, and Purchase Orders (POs) to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational policies and goals.
  • Facilitate clear and efficient communication between internal teams and external agencies for large scale media and seasonal campaign integration.
  • Monitor and evaluate agency performance, providing administrative feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement in operational efficiency.

Reporting and Data:

  • Track pre- and post-implementation of new automations and projects to determine their impact, analyzing the effectiveness of changes implemented by the PM team to ensure they drive the desired outcomes and efficiencies.
  • Develop and share insights on the effectiveness of these changes through comprehensive reports and presentations, providing stakeholders with clear, actionable feedback that guides future initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Expand the org’s knowledge base by improving internal documentation practices of processes, recaps, best practices, and break-fixes.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, leveraging these connections to drive alignment, support project objectives, and overcome challenges.
  • Communicate timely project updates, risks, and recommended solutions to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and facilitating proactive problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ensure marketing teams have clear timelines, due dates, individualized reports, and access to the necessary tools and resources to complete planning and execution tasks effectively.

Process Optimization:

  • Foster seamless integration between departments. Continuously improve PM processes by identifying inefficiencies, implementing best practices, and leveraging industry standards.
  • Implement innovative solutions and tools to automate day-to-day tasks, allowing teams to shift their focus to more impactful and strategic work that drives the organization's growth and success.
  • Support focus on learning and adopting new tools and skills to stay ahead of industry trends, ensuring the broader team remains equipped with the latest technologies and methodologies to optimize performance.
  • Leverage insights from project outcomes and performance data to refine and improve project management approaches, ensuring continuous improvement and adaptability to changing business needs.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in project management, preferably within the marketing domain.
  • 4+ years of management experience leading a project management team.
  • Proven success in managing complex projects and delivering them on time and within scope.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with a high sense of urgency and self-motivation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, coupled with the capacity to influence stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with marketing automation tools and software.
  • PMP or similar project management certification.
  • Experience in the footwear industry and online retail is preferred.
  • Strong background in process optimization, marketing operations, studio management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is open to candidates physically located in the following metropolitan statistical areas: Las Vegas, NV; New York, NY; and Seattle, WA.

Candidates who are not physically located in one of these areas may not be considered for this role. The base pay range for this position is $130,000 - 147,500 per year ; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, a full range of medical and other benefits is offered.
