The Wrexham site, which employs in the region of 350 workers, is a manufacturing site as well as an Energy Network Solution hub. We produce Low, Medium and High Voltage cables up to 132kV as well as accessories and components; using high-grade, fire-resistant materials along with submarine cables used for offshore wind farms.
About The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join our team in our Wrexham factory. You will provide comprehensive support in Health, Safety, and Environmental matters. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring legislative compliance, fostering safe working practices, and safeguarding the well-being of our employees, assets, and environment. You report to the Wrexham Plant Director, with secondary reporting lines to the UK HSE Manager.
Responsibilities
Cultivate and drive a culture of HSE integration among Wrexham employees to minimize accidents and incidents.
Support the maintenance of HSE Management Systems in accordance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
Implement initiatives to enhance HSE awareness and responsibility among all site employees.
Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) using established methodologies.
Maintain and contribute to the enhancement of existing company programs such as Behavioral Safety and Continuous Improvement.
Ensure continuous execution of risk assessments and implementation of control measures.
Monitor plant equipment and systems for compliance with statutory and corporate requirements
Provide guidance on safety requirements for proposed new plant, equipment, and buildings.
Chair Health & Safety Committee and Departmental meetings at the Wrexham site.
Represent the Wrexham site in meetings with external Inspectorates and other stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements
Proven experience in a similar HSE role, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Ideally educated to degree-level in engineering or a related technical discipline, however this is not essential.
Extensive knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices.
Formal HSE qualifications such as NEBOSH Diploma and Environmental Management Certificate or IEMA Certificate.
Membership of relevant industry institutions preferred.
HSE Internal Auditor certification, with experience in conducting integrated audit programs.
Strong communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Proactive, results-driven, resilient, and passionate about making a positive impact.
