Job description

OPPORTUNITY

The Vice President, Value Creation & Asset Management will report into the Senior Vice President, Asset Management, and will work closely with the senior executive team and the financial planning & analysis group. Their focus will be in the key functional areas of the performance of Fengate’s Energy Transition, Digital and Transportation assets. They will oversee a variety of duties including project development, construction, investment due diligence and transition, asset dispositions and asset management activities. The incumbent will oversee a variety of projects, manage service providers, manage project obligations, and seek opportunities to create value to the assets under management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing specific projects and/or portfolio companies to ensure compliance, operational efficiency and achieve full potential value.
  • Develop and manage internal operational procedures to ensure good corporate governance from service providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist as required with due diligence and review of potential acquisitions, as well as manage the development and construction activities on pre-operational assets.
  • Produce and present all board meeting materials as required for each asset.
  • Lead and mentor junior members of the Asset Management, Financial Planning and Analysis and Financial Reporting teams.
  • Analyze project performance and identify opportunities for technical, capital structure or energy marketing improvements, asset dispositions or organizational changes, participate in the implementation of these solutions and lead the preparation and presentation of Investment Committee materials for such events.

Requirements

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of progressive and related work experience, with skills developed ideally within an asset management organization.
  • Undergraduate degree, post-graduate degree or MBA in Business, Finance, Engineering or Accounting is an asset.
  • Experience in project development, asset management and/or construction management.
  • Experience in assessing and delivering value creation opportunities.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including the ability to understand and analyze operational data and financial models in order to provide analysis and data-driven recommendations.
  • Effective communicator of complex concepts to senior members of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively work within a team; willingness to contribute to the development of internal processes and procedures.
  • Flexibility and adaptability regarding work assignments, including willingness to learn new skills, subject matter areas and industries.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly across North America to project and/or partner locations.

The position will be remote or based out of the Toronto/Oakville office.
