Position Summary...
Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning. Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent. Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy. What you'll do...
Enterprise Business Services @ IDC Bangalore and Chennai in India are focused on data driven, highly optimized products and implementations in the areas of Finance, Procurement, Human Resources and Retail business functions for multiple Walmart markets with open stack technologies and other ERP tools.
As part of EBS Fin Tech we have embarked on an exciting journey of modernizing and transforming the legacy applications into future tech stack to help build a Tier 0 high available, resilient systems for the stores and facilities across US and international markets to increase their productivity.
What you'll do:
- Drive Software architecture and deliver scalable Distributed systems.
- Technical leadership in building a complex open stack microservices based platform or product that are highly reliable, and scalable.
- Provide guidance in applying the right architectural design pattern for the modernization of the applications by analyzing the gaps between existing architecture and new business requirements.
- Drive automation using more adoption and maturity on the CICD stage gates for the applications.
- Drive implementation of telemetry features based on the domain requirements to improve the overall operational excellence of the application.
- Lead a team responsible for a suite of SaaS and full stack products.
- Drive strategic technical decisions to transform our current SaaS products into home grown full-stack products.
- Establish durable ways of working with product peers and other internal engineering teams to drive our product roadmap.
- Build and coach a team of managers and senior ICs and align their strengths to outcomes.
- Foster a culture of innovation and operational excellence.
What you’ll bring:
- Deep working knowledge of all aspects of Cloud native distributed system development.
- Technical Proficiency in one or more of the languages such as Java, Python, React Native, Node JS, React JS, GraphQL
- Experience working with micro-services architecture, distributed systems, and applying design patterns.
- Experience in all areas of engineering including DevOps, Chaos Engineering, SRE, and on-call rotations to assure service availability and operational excellence.
- Experience managing software development engineers, leaders, architects and leading engineering projects, guiding engineering teams on engineering excellence & solid system design.
- 4+ years of experience managing other engineering managers and 8+ years as an engineer.
- Ability to clearly articulate a technical vision and energize engineers towards outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications (Manager's Ideal Candidate Must-Haves (skills required))
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and minimum 10-12 years’ experience in software engineering Or master’s degree in computer science or related field and 8-10 years of work experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of people manager experience (including managing leaders) in driving and retaining a high-performance team.
- Minimum 6-8 years of experience building highly scalable, high performance, responsive software Applications.
- Highly technical hands-on and an effective people leader
- Proven industry experience with large scale distributed systems
Preferred Qualifications (Manager's Preferred Qualifications (3-5 "nice to haves"))
- Experience working in any benefits, total rewards or other health and wellness platforms.
- Experience building resilient Tier 0 production system operations (logging, telemetry, alerting etc.)
