Job Offer: Electrical Components Engineer

Location: Remote

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Components Engineer to join our client's team and lead the design, development, and technical support of electrical sub-systems and components within the towers of our offshore wind turbines. This includes high and low voltage power cables, 66 kV switchgear, internal tower components, sensors, cabinets, cable harnesses, signaling systems, lighting, and navigational aids. The role involves providing support throughout all project phases, from conceptual design to commissioning, including detailed design, requisitioning, supplier management, inspection, testing, validation, and installation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Design: Execute the design of electrical components for the wind turbine and their integration within the turbine system, ensuring that costs, reliability, and schedules are met.
  • Project Ownership: Take ownership of assigned electrical components throughout the project lifecycle, including defining requirements and features, providing technical clarifications, defining interfaces, releasing specifications, reviewing drawings, overseeing prototypes, conducting tests, obtaining approvals, and resolving issues in the installed fleet.
  • Technical Query Management: Develop, respond to, and manage technical queries.
  • Compliance with Standards: Ensure that components meet international codes and standards such as IEC, UL, CSA, ISO, CE, DIN, etc.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with the Supplier Quality organization to ensure critical quality features (CTQs) are adequately tested and maintained in mass production.
  • Engineering Processes: Drive engineering processes to develop detailed designs and updates according to requirements (NCR, ECO, etc.).
  • Technical Support: Provide support for issues arising in assembly, installation, or operational phases of the turbines.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous experience in designing and developing electrical systems, preferably in the renewable energy sector or similar.
  • Knowledge of international standards and regulations for electrical components.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a dynamic, results-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and suppliers.
