Communication activities, including website management, Facebook, Instagram, Mailchimp (emails), press/PR, graphic design, writing, video production, Google Workspace system (Gmail and document storage), and technical support. The team plays a vital role in building SWR's profile, aiding in recruitment and fundraising efforts. We are seeking volunteers with experience in one or more of the aforementioned communication activities and a passion for supporting the resettlement of refugees and asylum seekers in the Sevenoaks District.

What will you be doing?

Summary of the Role The communications team at Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees (SWR) consists of approximately 10 dedicated volunteers involved in various communication activities, including website management, Facebook, Instagram, Mailchimp (emails), press/PR, graphic design, writing, video production, Google Workspace system (Gmail and document storage), and technical support. The team plays a vital role in building SWR's profile, aiding in recruitment and fundraising efforts. We are seeking volunteers with experience in one or more of the aforementioned communication activities and a passion for supporting the resettlement of refugees and asylum seekers in the Sevenoaks District. What to Expect Each communication activity has its own rhythm and requirements. For example, our monthly newsletter (using Mailchimp) involves compiling story material throughout the month, liaising with the comms lead on priority stories, and handling editing, checking, sending, and monitoring in the days before publication. Facebook requires daily attention, posting relevant and interesting stories, and engaging with posts in the SWR group and page. We organize the comms team's rota to manage both ongoing and occasional tasks effectively. Good teamwork and mutual support among volunteers are crucial. What You’ll Do Your specific tasks will depend on which communication activities you’d like to get involved with. The comms lead will provide an induction and suggest where you can fit into the team rota. You may also be given one or twocomms projects to personally lead. What You’ll Bring Previous experience in one or more of our communication channels website, Facebook, Instagram, Mailchimp (emails), press/PR, graphic design, writing, video, Google Workspace system, or technical support. A passion for supporting the resettlement of refugees and asylum seekers in the Sevenoaks District. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work productively with diverse teams.
