Your missions

This is a fantastic opportunity for directors/trustees with experience and knowledge of the sector to support the Managing Director to help the business to move forward and expand. Strategic and financial experience is welcomed.

What difference will you make?

The board of directors will govern the direction in which the business will go, with a view to expanding and providing similar services in other areas of the North East. This is a rewarding and important role, we want the business to be authentic and transparent in the delivery methods and use of funds.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking directors with experience in finances or promotion. Skills in funding opportunities, media promotion, brand building, governance and finances are needed. We would like people with a good moral compass who is supportive and understanding of the challenges faced by women and girls.

What will you be doing?

We are a new community interest company developing services working with women and girls in County Durham who have been affected by trauma. We have 3 elements to the service 1. An alternative education provision for girls excluded from or at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. We provide a trauma informed service delivering Functional Skills Maths and English alongside Hair and Beauty workshops with the aim of improving self esteem and confidence. We will have various partner services working together with us to provide quality support around a variety of issues. This is the enterprising element of the business, with schools and child looked after homes paying a fixed sum per day per child to attend. 2. An out of school hours provision for girls in the near vicinity of our building in Peterlee, the East Durham area. Poverty and deprivation are high in this area and we would like to provide the "safe space" for local girls to access during evenings and school holidays. 3. A service for local women who have experienced trauma. We will provide a building and supportive staff for women to access a variety of support workshops including access to free or reduced cost Hair and Beauty treatments with the aim to improve self worth. Co directors will support in the planning of new and innovative projects and must have a trauma informed and person centred approach to working with women and girls.
