Project description

The Institute of Vocational Training and Labor Studies Alberto Cassimo (IFPELAC) in Mozambique has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer to serve as a Commercial Locksmithing Master Trainer/Instructor. Youth trained at vocational training institutes are more employable because the training they receive provides them with skills that meet the needs of the current job market including the oil, gas and mining industries. Youth can also choose to start their own businesses in which they employ themselves and others thereby ensuring income to their families and contributing to reducing Mozambique’s unemployment rate. IFPELAC’s professional training centers have a variety of new equipment acquired for their locksmithing program and they need master trainers who can ensure the vocational trainers are well-prepared in proper management, operation and maintenance of all equipment and resources.

The PCRVs will be integrated into the training team, where they will work in coordination with the Director of the Center, the Pedagogic Officer and Technical Trainers in the welding area. The PCRV will plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the overall training process, aimed at ensuring the quality of the training at different levels and modalities of the vocational training offered by the center. The PCRV will also support the development of teaching plans, implementation of the teaching and learning processes, and monitor the those processes.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Mozambique together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
