Job description

The Data Steward will be responsible for overseeing data governance, quality, and integrity within the organization. This role will involve working closely with data owners, business units, and IT teams to ensure that data is properly managed, classified, and maintained. The Data Steward will also implement data policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with internal and external data regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Governance and Stewardship:

  • Implementation of data governance frameworks, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and securely managed across the organization.
  • Establish and maintain data stewardship roles and responsibilities within business units and functional areas.
  • Define data standards, policies, and processes for managing data assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements

Data Quality and Integrity:

  • Oversee data quality initiatives to ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of key data sets.
  • Monitor and track data quality metrics, and work with teams to resolve data quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, glossaries, and metadata repositories to ensure transparency and standardization of key data definitions.

Data Lifecycle Management:

  • Manage the lifecycle of critical data elements, including data acquisition, storage, usage, and retirement.
  • Ensure data security and privacy practices are embedded in the management of data assets, aligning with company and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in creating data governance policies, and procedures
  • 5+ years of experience in implementing data governance frameworks and leading data quality initiatives.
  • Experience with managing database, data architecture, or big data systems
  • Experience in drafting and managing data policies, business data processes and business glossaries
  • Solid understanding of data warehouse, ETL, data cleansing, and cloud architecture (Azure preferred)
  • Experience with various data governance tools such as Collibra, Master Data Management (MDM), Informatica
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into data governance solutions.
