The Department
The Content Team at Autovista is comprised of Specifications, Valuations, and Repair. Each team is responsible for developing and maintaining the content databases required for delivering data, applications, and web services to our customers.
The Valuations team plays a crucial role in providing precise vehicle valuations and pricing, ensuring the data aligns with our strategic goals. They utilize SAE Autovista’s cutting-edge valuation methodology to deliver accurate, timely valuations that meet customer expectations.
The valuations team are not a commercial team. Their focus is purely on vehicle pricing and valuation, working independently and collaborating with other functions within the group where necessary. This ensures that their work maintains the objectivity and rigor essential to delivering accurate content.
The Valuations team operate under strict governance guidelines. These guidelines are defined by the company’s overall business strategy, the Chief Risk Officer’s requirements, and the advisory input of the General Counsel. This ensures all work is carried out with adherence to legal, regulatory, and strategic criteria.
The Role
The Team Leader Valuations (Australia) main purpose is producing current and future valuations and market insight for the car, commercial vehicle, Motorcycle, caravans and Marines industries in Australia, with the people reporting to him.
Responsibilities
Produce accurate used and forecast vehicle valuation data to provide reliable guide values to subscribers. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of valuations (used car values and forecasts) by reviewing, adjusting, and completing SAE values, or using alternative methods when SAE is unavailable.
Track and ensure the accuracy of valuations as a key part of the team's performance, reporting valuation activities and status to the Regional Head of Valuations.
Analyse and interpret observational data and market trends to respond proactively to changing market conditions.
Assist the Regional Head of Valuations in implementing the strategy, framework, rules, and methodology for valuations. Support the implementation of systems and standards within the Valuation department, in collaboration with the Central Valuation team. Proactively identify and implement improvements to internal valuation processes.
Attend new vehicle product launches and industry events to stay informed on the latest developments and trends.
Provide support to the Customer Experience (CX) team for valuation-related queries and complaints, as well as customer insights via AS24 and Autovista Intelligence.
Line-manage and develop the Valuation Team in Australia, ensuring the team’s performance is aligned with overall business objectives.
Ensure all Residual Value Analysts comply with company policies and maintain independence from OEMs and other stakeholders when setting guide values.
Ensure all staff within the Valuation Team have job descriptions that accurately reflect their roles and align with business needs.
Set clear goals and objectives for all team members, ensuring they understand their role and purpose. Support their learning, development, and well-being, while addressing any under-performance swiftly and effectively.
The Candidate
You have experience in leading a small team. Self-confident, professional demeanour, structured, goal-oriented, and analytical approach to work. Experience in data handling, analysis, and performing statistical analysis and working with large data sets using BI tools (preferably Tableau). Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel) with a strong affinity for IT. AQF Diploma level or higher qualification is required. Ability to work independently, drive projects forward, and bring them to completion. Excellent command of the English language; additional languages are an asset. You have willingness to travel.
Having knowledge of vehicle technical aspects is desirable and an understanding of the Australian new and used vehicle market and key market players. You enjoy working with data and numbers and are open to change and adaptable to new challenges.
