Job description

Are you an attorney with significant experience in data privacy and compliance? Would you be excited to work in a contract/engagement role supporting and implementing various aspects of a data protection compliance strategy and advising on legal matters surrounding data protection/privacy remotely? We are looking for an attorney who can provide legal advice on data privacy and related compliance support for a technology company client and an insurance company client on an ad-hoc or part-time basis.

Applicants must have significant experience providing advice on data privacy and related statutes, regulations and guidance such as GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, VCDPA, CPA and other US state data privacy laws.

In this role, you will:

  • Review the company’s data protection compliance arrangements, which would include doing a risk assessment, updating policies and guidance, centralizing processes and assisting key departments in implementing robust remedial plans where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain relevant internal data privacy policies and training.
  • Inform and advise the company on applicable data privacy regulations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and assist the company in developing and implementing a robust compliance plan.
  • Partner with all key business areas, including the IT Security team and insurance risk teams, to ensure data privacy issues are considered at the outset of new projects, products and initiatives.

Minimum Requirements for the Data Privacy Compliance Attorney:

  • 6+ years as a data privacy attorney with a large corporate legal department or the corporate department at a well-respected full-service law firm.
  • Experience analyzing complex privacy and data security laws and regulations, providing legal counsel, and developing actionable business policies and action items.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complicated issues and the impact on business operations and incorporate privacy and data use provisions in contracts.
  • Strong academic credentials from a top accredited law school.
  • Outstanding references.
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in state of residence.
  • Candidates who have experience providing data privacy legal advice to technology or insurance companies are highly preferred.

Compensation

The annualized compensation for this position (if full time) ranges from $175,000 to $250,000 or more. Pay is based on numerous factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials and location. In addition to salary, Latitude Engaged Professionals are W2 employees of Latitude and are eligible for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week, including a Qualified 401k plan. Benefits-eligible Latitude employees receive complimentary Group Life, LTD and AD&D and professional liability insurance. Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
