Senior PowerBuilder Developer for Mission-Critical Applications

Description

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking experienced PowerBuilder contractor developers with more than 5 years of experience for a 12-month engagement in the Engineering Application Services Department (EAS). Your role will involve enhancing and maintaining a mission-critical application called HiCAMS, which is a custom client-server application used for tracking work, materials, and payments on construction projects within the North Carolina Division of Highways.

The initial assignments will focus on coding and testing data windows to replace over 100 sample test result spreadsheet formats that were developed using an outdated third-party software tool. Additional responsibilities will include coding, testing bug fixes, and implementing functional enhancements to the system.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience as a PowerBuilder developer using PB10 or more recent versions.
• Strong SQL skills (HiCAMS uses a Sybase database, but SQL proficiency in any database platform is acceptable).
• Strong experience with the Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel.
• Familiarity with remote software development environments.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and technical skills.
• Positive interpersonal skills combined with an independent, self-motivated work ethic.
• Ability to work with a custom base-class.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to explain business processes to IT users and IT applications to business users.

• Development experience in C#.
• Development experience in Java.
• Experience coding stored procedures and triggers (any database).
• Experience developing in a Visual Studio environment.
