Job description

We are hiring for a Commercial Sales Specialist (Southern California)

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our Heavy Commercial Sales team to further ignite sales in key US markets. This position is instrumental in helping to drive specifier and influencer advocacy. These specifiers include architects, mechanical engineers and contractors focused on segments such as healthcare, education, property management and hospitality.

You will be the face of Delta Commercial in your local market and will work closely with your regional Rep Agencies. You will participate in joint sales calls, lead lunch-and-learn meetings and other product training sessions and provide basic on-site product service / troubleshooting.

It is expected that as a Commercial Sales Specialist you will work closely with the other members of the North America Heavy Commercial team including business development, specification office, marketing, and product management.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, management, design, or related experience a plus.
  • 5+ years of specification selling experience in related industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the plumbing industry with experience in Commercial a bonus.
  • You have a positive, can-do attitude that exhibits passion and optimism.
  • Strong technical skills along with solid mechanical aptitude.
  • It is important that you have a strong ability to multi-task, identify needs and problem solve quickly.
  • Strong communication & presentation skills (oral and written), and proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce, PowerBI, and Outlook.
  • You have a strong work ethic; demonstrate a customer focus and understanding, and exhibit ethics and integrity.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 5-8 nights away from home per month on average.
  • Must embrace working outside the time constraints of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Strong planning and analytic skills and able follow, replicate, and teach a sales process.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with key specifiers in your designated market and other areas as requested. Work closely with these specifiers to develop Delta Commercial focused specifications for projects.
  • Target new business by developing and maintaining relationships with mechanical contractors and key influencers within the healthcare, education, office, public facilities, and hospitality segments – including commercial property management.
  • Assist the sales and marketing teams in developing specification packages for each targeted segment and individual design build mechanical contractor firms.
  • Teach and participate in product knowledge seminars with end-users which include lunch & learn, contractor breakfasts and site demonstrations.
  • Maintain a database of key influencers including detailed profiles.
  • Participate in local industry organizations/committees (i.e., ASPE / MCAA)
  • Participation in local, regional, and national trade shows as required.
  • Discovery and communication of new product opportunities and providing input on current product offerings.
  • Maintain regular communication with our independent agencies.
  • Assist rep agencies when order escalations are required.
  • Help direct commercially focused agency specialists that work within our sales agencies.
  • Basic on-site troubleshooting of product issues.
  • Support with forecasting of future sales.
  • Support lead generation / data mining.
  • Plan growth initiatives and help to manage project pipelines.
  • Use Salesforce as both a CRM and project tracking tool.
  • Plan budgets to stay on target throughout the year.
  • Set KPIs/goals and implement strategies to achieve outstanding results.
