Job description

We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented individual with experience in payables accounting to process our invoices and process our bi-weekly payroll. We are hiring a Payables and Payroll Accountant that will review and process invoice, employee reimbursement requests, and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll. Reporting to our Controller, you will be the responsible for all payables and payroll actions. Additional duties will include assisting with month-end closeout as well as assisting with help tickets for customers with accounting issues. Ideal candidates will have 2-4 years experience in payables/payroll processing or a degree in accounting.

A typical day for this position involves monitoring emails and processing incoming AP invoices. Responsible for the entire AP process you will be responsible for keeping organized records and files of all vendors. You will be asked to process weekly check runs. You will also own our employee spend management system through the Visa Spend Clarity software. You will review reimbursement requests and receipts and ensure all transactions are properly coded to the GL. You will be responsible for preparing, generating, and maintaining payroll documentation including issuing and processing employee pay, including commissions and bonuses. Other tasks include processing ACH batches, reconciling and closing books and pushing payments via vendor websites. As part of a small accounting team, you will own the payables and payroll processing portions of the Accounting Department and will be asked to cross-train to assist in other areas as well.

After one year, you’ll know you were successful if:

  • You process AP invoices accurately and timely.
  • You maintain a highly organized system that maintains all of our vendors and their contracts.
  • You are a self-motivated individual that can complete their tasks with minimal supervision and support our customers by completing help-tickets.
  • Be responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll.
  • Coordinate with HR to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll.
  • Reconcile payroll related accounts for month end processes.
  • Assist with research regarding payroll tax inquiries, penalties, and overpayments.
