Tax Specialist - Registration

Job Summary

This role will work with tax agencies to ensure filings and payments are remitted timely from Paycor systems to the agency systems. To accomplish these goals, this role will need to understand the different aspects of the tax filing and payment process. The Tax Specialist will identify compliance issues and data discrepancies and work with internal partners to get the issue rectified for timely remittance of returns and payments.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Update client information including account numbers, changes, and similar data.
  • Processing daily tax work for active and lost clients.
  • Resolve client questions expediently with a high level of service and communicate with them regarding tax activity, prior quarter balancing issues, amended returns and tax jurisdiction correspondences
  • Follow up on tax issues to assure problem has been resolved and client or specialist communication/update has occurred.
  • Communicate with clients for issues regarding tax jurisdiction correspondences.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers regarding tax inquiries
  • Process tax adjustments
  • Maintain and update work cases in Salesforce including progress and communication to customers.
  • Set a positive work example for peers and influence a working environment that is energized and consistently demonstrates the Paycor service commitment.
  • Enroll Paycor tax filing clients for electronic tax payments and filings when needed
  • Reconcile QTD and YTD tax amounts withheld, reported, and deposited on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for specific agencies.
  • Communicate and establish relationships with tax jurisdictions.
  • Identify and resolve issues as well as drive change for related improvements
  • Organize and maintain all the reference documents based on agency rules and regulations.
  • Work with different Tax teams as well as Taxing Authorities on an as-needed basis
  • Understand Federal, State and Local taxes.
  • Maintaining contact with tax authorities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax issues for federal and local taxing authorities.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of multi-state and local tax forms and reporting requirements
  • Identify and document problems and trends and recommend solutions to eliminate the same problem in the future
  • Actively participate as a member of the team and support other team members as needed, including fill in work for specialists as required.
  • Assist with customer escalations as needed.

Requirements

  • 1 year of prior Accounting, Business or Paycor experience preferred.
  • 2+ year of Payroll/ Tax experience preferred
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational, problem- solving, and analytical proven skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
  • Ability to interface with multiple departments, multi-task, and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, and Excel.
  • Adherence to schedule and role assignments to ensure timely responses

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. We anticipate the base pay for this position to be between $19.40-31.05/hour. In addition to base pay, Paycor Associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on their position.
