Position Overview

We are seeking a candidate for a European Credit Intern role, who is currently undertaking an MBA or MiF, and who has prior relevant working experience. It is expected that the internship will run for around 9 months and will require c20 hours per week of work in our London office, which can be performed alongside study. Working with the PM and Research Analysts, this role will support the development of credit-related investment ideas, based on fundamental analysis of European companies. This comprises both long and short, public and private investments across different industries and asset classes (bonds, loans, CDS and equities). The role includes conducting primary research, creating and maintaining financial models, fundamental valuations of companies, generating investment memos, attending company meetings, and presenting investable ideas.

Major Responsibilities

  • Conducting fundamental research including financial modeling, generation of investment memos, attending company meetings, industry and market trend analyses and risk/reward analyses.
  • Participate in generation of investable credit ideas and analyzing the ideas allocated by the PM.
  • Assist in reviewing and negotiating key legal documents, including credit and equity financing agreements with internal and external counsel.
  • Assist in managing and performing surveillance on existing investments, including updating models, analytics valuation and risk reports, reviewing investor reports and third-party research, and interacting with internal and external subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree with excellent academic results.
  • Currently undertaking MBA or MiF.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, including in M&A, restructuring or Leverage Finance sell-side experience and buy-side experience.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and knowledge of financial statements.
  • Ability to analyze and model complex credit situations.
  • Ability to participate in restructuring processes and understanding of different restructuring regimes.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
  • Team player, collaborative attitude and self-driven.
  • Effective, direct communicator; seeks opportunities to work with others.
