Description

As a Compliance Supervisor for a US mortgage bank, you will play a crucial role in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards within the mortgage lending operations. You will oversee compliance activities, provide guidance to staff, and collaborate with various departments to maintain a culture of compliance and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of compliance professionals to ensure all mortgage lending activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training materials to ensure staff understanding and adherence.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of mortgage loan files, processes, and documentation to identify compliance issues, errors, or gaps.
  • Provide guidance and interpretation of regulatory requirements to lending teams, operations staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay current with changes in mortgage regulations, laws, and industry best practices, and communicate updates to the team.
  • Collaborate with the legal department and external counsel to address regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, regulators, and examiners during compliance reviews and examinations.
  • Analyze compliance-related data and metrics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions and remediation plans to address compliance deficiencies and mitigate risk.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on compliance matters, providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues and inquiries.
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of compliance monitoring systems and tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff members on compliance topics, regulatory updates, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of compliance awareness and accountability throughout the organization.

Skills, Knowledge, And Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, legal studies, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CRCM, CAMS, CCEP) is a plus.
  • Minimum of [3] years of experience in mortgage banking compliance, with a strong understanding of federal and state regulations governing mortgage lending (e.g., RESPA, TILA, TRID, HMDA).
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred, with demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of compliance management principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and identify compliance risks and issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and compliance management software/tools.
  • Strong commitment to integrity, ethics, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Strong preference for an applicant with experience using SES (State Examination System)
