We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced (Senior) Financial Accountant to join our European finance team. The Financial Accountant will report directly to the European Controller and will be integral to the team responsible for day-to-day accounting activities, consolidation of the general ledger at the regional level, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can coordinate payroll, tax, and accounting services provided by our external service providers across Europe and contribute to various process improvement projects.
Responsibilities Include:
- GL Accounting
- Oversee month-end close coordination, including working with external AP providers, posting manual journal entries, managing accruals, and reconciling intercompany accounts.
- Establish and maintain supporting documentation for balance sheet account reconciliations, tax compliance, and (Sox) audit requirements.
- Balance sheet ownership of assigned companies in Europe
- AR
- Ensure accurate and timely posting of invoices and ensure they are sent to customers promptly.
- Manage AR collection efforts and maintain detailed reporting on AR collection status.
- Organize and lead weekly AR review meetings.
- Collaborate with the CS&L team to resolve customer queries related to open invoices.
- Treasury
- Prepare weekly payments and bank account reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing the monthly cash forecast.
- Payroll
- Coordinate monthly payroll inputs and outputs with external payroll providers.
- Prepare payroll entries accurately and timely.
- Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of management reports to support regional management decision-making.
- Assist in quarterly reporting to the US head office
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements
- Coordinate all statutory reporting across different countries in the region with local administrators.
- Projects
- Initiate/contribute in Finance/Accounting process improvements
- Adhoc request to contribute in various projects (Tax, Legal structure optimization,companies integration etc)
Qualifications
- Accounting/Financial Administration degree (HBO/University),
- At least 5 years’ experience working in a multinational company or accounting firm;
- Experience with Oracle/SAP is a plus;
- Proficient in MS Office (Excell)
- Selfstarter, accurate and pro-active;
- A team player with good communication skills and experience in working in a multi-cultural environment
- Fluent English is a must, Dutch is strongly desired, and any other European language is a plus.
