Job Description

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Data Governance Manager to join our team. We are on an exciting journey to scale our Data and Analytics capabilities to enable better data-driven decision making across the business. This is a multi-faceted role meant to build and enable a fit-for-purpose Data Governance program that has the right balance between controls and flexibility.

The ideal candidate is someone with a curious personality, strong understanding of data governance frameworks, policies and strong focus understanding business needs and operations. They will also have a background in knowledge management to help build and accelerate a data-centric culture.

What You’ll Do

  • Build a Data Governance operating model and actively engage, educate and collaborate with the Data Stewardship community
  • Manage the Data Lifecycle, including access, classification, storage, retention, and deletion, to ensure data integrity and compliance
  • Collaborate with Data Office and Data Steward, liaising with data owners to maintain data governance standards and resolve data-related issues
  • Foster a data-centric culture within the organization
  • Lead data governance initiatives and projects
  • Utilize Data Governance tools to create and maintain data catalogs, data lineage, and metadata management, facilitating easy access to data assets
  • Develop and lead training sessions to upskill key DG roles and enhance overall data literacy
  • Create and maintain tools, guides, templates, and other supporting products to enable stakeholders with necessary tools to promote high quality data
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of DG initiatives and regularly report on progress

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • 5+ years directly related work experience in a Data Governance role, preferably in SaaS
  • Knowledge of industry leading data governance practices
  • Familiar with implementation and use various data governance tools and software
  • Understanding of the full data lifecycle and related data governance requirements
  • Understanding of GDPR and related legislation
  • Proficient in SQL and able to analyze datasets to understand trends and patterns
  • Expert in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Results oriented, willing to drive projects to completion
  • The ability to work with deadlines and complete work in a timely manner
  • Experience with business process modeling and leading workshops
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field
