We are currently looking for a Technical Scheme Lead within the Global Fisheries Team for our seafood business. Working as part of a team based remotely, our Technical Scheme Lead will be responsible for the management of evaluation of fisheries and managing the application and certification process of fisheries scheme requirements, maintaining positive relationships with scheme and standard owners to ensure compliance with relevant KPI expectations.

Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to:

  • Ensure relevant policies, procedures and documentation are reflective of and up to date with scheme requirements and held in the approved system.
  • Advise business on potential for expansion / threats to the schemes.
  • Responsible for overseeing certification decisions on assigned schemes.
  • Assist with on-boarding, review, coaching and guidance to fisheries assessors to ensure they fully comply with scheme owner and NSF/Global Trust requirements at all times, taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Respond to findings and non-conformances in a comprehensive, timely and accurate manner to ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented effectively.
  • Manage and maintain accreditation and scheme owner requirements for assigned schemes including liaising with and managing accreditation body and scheme owner site visits and audits.
  • Provide support to sales functions in developing proposals documentation.
  • Provide regular updates to management on the performance of the assigned schemes.

Qualifications

  • A minimum BSc. level qualification, in a relevant subject
  • Relevant experience in auditing relevant to sustainable fisheries standards and certification activity
  • Lead auditor (ISO 19011 or equivalent)
  • Existing or recent qualifications in sustainable fisheries standards such as Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), Marin Trust, Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) or equivalent schemes.
  • Sound understanding and experience with Fisheries Certification Program(s) such as Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), Marin Trust, Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) or equivalent schemes.
  • Strong analytical and logic-based skill set, able to consider information from a variety of sources and use to make sound, objective, evidence-based decisions.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to confidently manage key stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong coaching and training skills with the ability to provide clear direction and lead by example.
  • Very strong command of both written and spoken English.
  • Additional language(s) would be a distinct advantage.
  • International travel is expected which is generally 4-5 days in duration, 3-4 times a year.
