Job Type: Full Time & Hybrid (4 days in office & 1 day work from home)

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Taking the lead from the VP, Intelligence & Head Economist, you’ll play a pivotal role within the Intelligence team as a people leader and in actively managing an array of data feeds (both internal and from 3rd parties), a data warehouse, and a dashboard ecosystem that together form the critically-important foundation upon which rennie’s best-in-class market insights and perspectives are built.


In this role, you’ll manage the data pipelines and inventory used to support external clients and internal stakeholders, the latter of which primarily comprises the organization's three revenue lines: Developer Services, Consumer Services, and Advisory Services. Highly analytical, technologically-apt, and detail-oriented, you understand the importance of maintaining a high-quality data environment that can be leveraged to help rennie leadership and team members make better decisions and best advise our clients.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the efficient functioning of the Business Intelligence (BI) team, including the maintenance and ongoing evolution of the data ecosystem, the development of new business tools and resources

  • Work with department heads throughout the organization to identify business needs and areas of improvement that can be addressed by the BI team

  • Pro-actively up-level and improve existing content, tools, and resources maintained by the BI team

  • Deliver robust, but consumable analysis on all areas of the business and real estate market trends through various mediums (dashboards, excel, pdfs, etc.)

  • Develop and implement automated dashboards for business reporting and industry & market analysis for both internal and external clients

  • Maintain data warehouses, automating data pipelines and ETL processes for various data sources in preparation for modeling data for reporting purposes

  • Introduce and develop tools & applications for self-service analysis

  • Solution and/or optimize and consults on data-intensive practices or processes

  • Responsible for standardizing and documenting processes

  • As manager of BI team, develops and mentors BI analysts

  • Support the implementation of new systems or processes


Leadership responsibilities:

  • Directly lead a team and is responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work to collaboratively achieve the team's objectives; career coaching and developing; appraising and managing performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; creating a respectful workplace

  • Manage in accordance with rennie’s programs and policies to create a thriving and engaging workplace

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 - 8 years experience in a similar role involving the sourcing, ETL-ing, maintenance, organization, and thoughtful visualization of numerous and large data sets 

  • Previous team-lead or people management experience, with demonstrated proficiency supervising and motivating team members 

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration; a related certification, diploma, or degree in economics or real estate an asset


Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong familiarity with our geographic region, excellent understanding of Metro Vancouver’s regional real estate market and its dynamics 

  • Collaborative, creative, flexible, and innovative team player team player with an ability to work effectively with peers, senior leaders, and key stakeholders. 

  • Exceptional communication skills with proficiency in presenting data-driven recommendations effectively and clearly

  • Excellent problem-solving, and analytical skills with good judgment to make timely and sound decisions 

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise BI projects and initiatives, priorities and workflow.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies

  • Strong capability to interpret complex data sets and draw meaningful insights to inform and influence stakeholders and decision making

  • Make connections between various data sets and how they’re being used to better understand our market and operate our business

  • Ability to approach complex business business processes, systems, and operations with analytical thinking to identify problems and implement improvements

  • Competence with data visualization in Tableau and the ability to create effective dashboards and reports

  • Expert in Python for transforming data, connecting to data via APIs and building/deploying related applications and data pipelines

  • Familiarity with enterprise systems such as Salesforce and their data model/structure

  • Strong SQL skills and data warehousing experience, preferably Google BigQuery

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to write Macros

  • Knowledge working with GIS - running spatial analysis and working with SHP and KML files


Working Conditions

  • Our home office is located just outside of Granville Island in Kitsilano and this role is primarily office based with some flexibility to work remotely


Salary Information

The typical base salary for this specific position is from $99,500 to $135,000.  The salary offered is based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors including education, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and organizational needs. We also have a performance based bonus program that supports our employees by recognizing exceptional individual performance and company success.
