Job Mission
As the Head of Global Programs, you will oversee Terraformation’s ambitious native forest restoration projects around the world, leading a team of program managers, contractors, and global partners to hit critical milestones and scale carbon projects throughout Africa, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. This highly cross-functional role will work closely with leaders across all teams at Terraformation to ensure projects are supported from design through implementation and monitoring.
Location: Remote; overlap with US working hours required, with support needed on various global time zones
Salary: $130,000 - $150,000, plus equity (depending on location and experience)
Responsibilities
Lead and implement a strategy for scaling global forestry partner operations
• Manage a team of program managers in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Colombia, and the Philippines
• Ensure the success of a portfolio of reforestation and agroforestry projects
• Ensure consistency and best practices across projects and countries
Serve as a primary leadership liaison with forestry partners, local communities, government officials and strategic stakeholders globally
• Build strong relationships and effective collaborations aligned with local needs and ways of operating
• Use judgment to work through challenging situations with local partners, ensuring accountability to agreements and helping overcome barriers to success
• Serve as advocate for the success of our partners with governments and other strategic stakeholders
Lead the implementation and monitoring phase (Phase 3) of Terraformation’s Seed to Forest Carbon Accelerator
• Create and iterate on processes and operations needed to ensure strong oversight and accountability to keep projects on track to hit key milestones
• Lead process of internal and external partner reporting, carried out in coordination with the product team, ensuring that reporting meets requirements for carbon verification bodies and investors
Lead elements of annual budgeting and goal-setting; create and iterate on annual company KPIs related to our global programs and report regularly on the progress toward these goals
Minimum Qualifications10+ years of experience leading teams and managing relevant projects across multiple geographic locationsPast history of work managing forestry or ecosystem restoration projects required; working knowledge of the nature based carbon market sector strongly preferred Ability to manage multiple partners with varying and complex project needs while engaging and tracking effective collaboration and trust with local communitiesExperience working with NGOs, private sector, and government agenciesExtremely strong communication skills used both internally and externallyStrong emotional intelligence and ability to act with humility and respect Demonstrated experience securing and implementing grants and/or RFPsExperience working with landowners and/or international groups carrying out ecosystem restoration work Experience building and improving processes to manage and execute complex projects and global teamsKnowledge of forestry, biodiversity and/or native restoration techniquesFamiliarity with monitoring and evaluation best practices and incorporating learnings into programmatic and operational changes Ability to travel internationally, often to remote locations (up to 25%)
