We are seeking a skilled AWS Database Administrator experienced in managing and optimizing databases on the AWS platform and leading a small team of engineers.  The ideal candidate will have expertise in Postgres, Redshift, and DynamoDB, with a focus on performance tuning both platforms and queries. Soft skills in leadership and coaching are also desired.


What You'll Do
  • Manage and maintain Postgres, Redshift and DynamoDB databases on AWS.
  • Optimize database performance through configuration tuning, index optimization, and query optimization.
  • Implement and manage database backups, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor database health and performance metrics, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to design and implement database solutions that meet performance and scalability requirements.
  • Stay updated on AWS database technologies and best practices, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Lead a small team of 1-2 engineers, providing technical guidance and coaching.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7-10 years of proven experience as a DBA, specifically in AWS environments
  • Proficiency in managing Postgres, Redshift, and DynamoDB databases.
  • Strong understanding of database performance tuning techniques and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Self starter to learn on own.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • AWS certification(s) such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty is a plus.
Location:  This is a remote position. Candidate must be eligible to work in the state of Georgia.  Will be expected to be travel onsite 4-5 times per year.
