We are seeking a skilled AWS Database Administrator experienced in managing and optimizing databases on the AWS platform and leading a small team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Postgres, Redshift, and DynamoDB, with a focus on performance tuning both platforms and queries. Soft skills in leadership and coaching are also desired.

What You'll Do

Manage and maintain Postgres, Redshift and DynamoDB databases on AWS.
Optimize database performance through configuration tuning, index optimization, and query optimization.
Implement and manage database backups, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
Monitor database health and performance metrics, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
Collaborate with development and operations teams to design and implement database solutions that meet performance and scalability requirements.
Stay updated on AWS database technologies and best practices, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary.
Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
Lead a small team of 1-2 engineers, providing technical guidance and coaching.

What You'll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
7-10 years of proven experience as a DBA, specifically in AWS environments
Proficiency in managing Postgres, Redshift, and DynamoDB databases.
Strong understanding of database performance tuning techniques and best practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Self starter to learn on own.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
AWS certification(s) such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty is a plus.

Location: This is a remote position. Candidate must be eligible to work in the state of Georgia. Will be expected to be travel onsite 4-5 times per year.
