Job Overview

APTIM is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to provide leadership and direction for our design projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy for project locations in TN, TX, NM, SC and WY. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of engineering projects from business development, scope and fee development, staffing plan development, project oversight and execution, quality management, and financial performance
  • Management of all phases of project activities that range from small to large in value and a variety of scopes that include multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Develop new, and manage existing, client relationships; identify new opportunities with clients; lead all aspects of proposal development and submission including project planning, budgeting, and scheduling; lead contract preparation and negotiations.
  • Ensures conformance to applicable engineering and construction codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • As required, visits project sites to monitor activities throughout project lifecycle
  • Identifies and resolves staffing needs
  • Maintains awareness and ensures successful execution of required client invoicing and associated deadlines
  • As necessary, creates, coordinates or updates project-specific policies and procedures
  • Works alongside project teaming partners to ensure successful project execution

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited program. An advanced degree such as a Masters in Engineering or MBA is a plus.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • PMP Certification is a plus.
  • 8+ years of relevant project management experience
  • Ability to quickly acquire a working knowledge of program- or project-specific laws, policies, procedures and correspondence
  • Demonstrated experience in successful cost, schedule, and contract management of engineering design projects
  • Experience relaying technical subject matter to large, diverse audiences
  • Previous experience working with teaming subcontractors to produce consolidated designs
  • Candidate must be willing to travel to support project needs
  • Candidate must be willing to obtain a US Security Clearance to support the projects
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management certification(s)
  • NQA-1 experience
  • Previous DOE Nuclear project experience
  • Current or former US security clearance
