Overview:

The Business Team Supply Chain Director (S&OP) supports the VP/GM Business’s for their area of responsibility to coordinate and facilitate the end-to-end supply chain activities enabling superior service, operational excellence, short-term/long-term issue resolution necessary to achieve their sales and profit objectives. Success in this role will depend on a deep understanding of planning and inventory management, and strong collaboration with Product Lines, Sales, Operations, and Merchandising. Additionally, this role will work closely with Supply Chain leadership, the VP of Operations, and the VP of Supply chain to lead and facilitate the Executive S&OP, meeting with the executive management team.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Business Team Supply Chain Director supports the VP/GM Business’s for their area of responsibility to coordinate and facilitate end-to-end supply chain activities enabling superior On Time, In Full service necessary to achieve their sales and profit objectives.
  • Acts as the conduit to continually facilitate alignment of Commercial and Supply Strategies and Annual Operating Plans, as well as the tactical execution across functions to meet weekly and monthly customer needs.
  • Integrate and coordinate business requirements with the Supply Chain functions of Demand Management, Supply Planning, Distribution, Logistics and Order Management, etc. Continually identifies and removes obstacles for the business team working collaboratively across all functions. Drive the monthly assessment of customer supply chain scorecards and participate in and/or drive process improvements.
  • Identify performance and execution gaps (i.e. capacity limitations), both tactically in the short term and strategically in the long term and lead cross functional remediation efforts.
  • Act as the single point of contact between VP/GM and Supply Chain to ensure effective and efficient coordination from translation of sales plans into operational execution.
  • Work directly with the VP/GM and supply chain partners to resolve issues (manufacturing, Coman, warehouse, distribution) and coordinate remediation and sustainable corrective actions across functions.
  • Ensure supply chain readiness associated with promotions and new product introduction and changes in distribution.
  • They are responsible for developing customer specific supply chain plans and strategies.
  • Collaboratively develops 12-24 month forward looking demand and capacity (in house and Coman) models identifying bottlenecks and provides recommendations to build/obtain network capacity ahead of demand.
  • Clearly identify and communicate customer fulfillment objectives and expectations, develop metrics across all functional teams that are all driving towards high level service KPI and heavily focus on KPI with root cause investigation and projects to correct.
  • Clear understanding of inventory requirements, identifying production needed to meet the inventory requirements.
  • Provide synchronization between Supply Chain and Commercial departments ensuring all teams to work towards the same objectives and at the same pace.
  • Establish operational assessments to help identify key performance metrics for all functional metrics, create policy documents to guide the process and develop complete RACI chart.
  • Utilize deep analytics to identify trends, underperformance, overperformance and other performance issues. This type of data can then be utilized to create potential solutions, e.g., future fill rate expectations, future labor requirements and more.
  • Prepare and analyze standard cost of goods and total network costs as appropriate and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead, own and maintain strategy on delivery of targets: OTIF, Inventory/Stocks, Waste, Excess, Exposure for the business team and sets targets accordingly
  • Lead operational and strategic service reviews
  • Monitors and reports stock levels: proposes and decides corrective actions; manages allocations


Qualifications:

  • Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management or business-related degree is required, MBA preferred.
  • Ten plus years of experience in sales or a similar supply chain management role in a consumer goods or relevant, high velocity and complex portfolio organization
  • Ability to understand/relate to all other functional areas within company (R&D, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and Operations)
  • Strong strategic planning and tactical decision-making skills in a fast paced, start-up like CPG environment
  • Adept in using and building new best in class planning tools from manual processes through to SAP/APO (or similar) bridging Forecast, Demand, Capacity and Production (in house and outsourced) cycles.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks and meet constant deadline with strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbal/writing) effectively.
  • Self-motivated and strong analytical / problem solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization and across other functional areas.
  • Experience in business process reengineering and program / project management and ability to lead multiple people and projects simultaneously preferred
  • Capability to work independently in a fast-paced lean organization and be extremely organized and detail oriented

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and adept in implementing People-Process-Systems corrective actions.
  • Extremely detail oriented with ability to multi-task
  • Understanding of basic statistical concepts
  • Capable to boil down complex issues to clear and concise executive summaries.
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Self-motivated with positive attitude
  • Familiarity with reading and following market trends


Preferred Qualifications:

  • APICS certification or equivalent Supply Chain experience
  • MRP II and S&OP business process experience
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Six Sigma knowledge/experience
