About the Role

As a Data Science Manager, you are the driving force behind complex projects, transforming challenges into opportunities for success. Your expertise in data science, statistics, and coding enables you to lead workstreams seamlessly, ensuring projects run smoothly and exceed client expectations.

In this role, you'll not only manage projects from start to finish but also inspire your team to grow and improve every day. From capacity planning to people management, you’ll motivate your team to achieve their best, guiding their progress through continuous feedback and performance reviews. Your leadership will drive both individual and team excellence.

Your strategic thinking and clear communication will steer projects to success, as you gather insights, craft actionable recommendations, and present them confidently to clients. You'll also be a key player in expanding business development, both within existing accounts and in exploring new opportunities.

Beyond these responsibilities, you’ll support partners in deal reviews, manage essential databases, and ensure smooth implementation of solutions with client teams. This is your chance to lead projects that deliver real, measurable impact and elevate your team's performance every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and Organizing: Define project goals, structure, and resources while managing a dynamic team to ensure timelines and budgets are met with precision and efficiency.

  • Applying Expertise: Leverage your technical, managerial, and theoretical skills to drive successful outcomes, serving as a strategic sparring partner for your team and a trusted advisor on key decisions.

  • Managing Risks: Anticipate challenges early, develop robust contingency plans, and consistently monitor progress to keep projects on track and running smoothly.

  • Enhancing Team Performance: Lead by example, managing and mentoring your team to foster growth and high performance, while ensuring continuous improvement and effective collaboration.

  • Building Strong Client Relationships: Cultivate and maintain positive client relationships, expertly managing stakeholders and identifying new opportunities for growth within the account.

  • Expanding Opportunities: Actively identify new business opportunities both within your client projects and through networking, conferences, and industry connections, driving business development and account growth.

Your Qualifications
  • Hold an academic degree in a relevant field (e.g. business administration and data science).

  • Have a minimum of 6 years experience in project and people management in a consulting company;

  • Have a technical background in data science with experience in managing data science projects and teams. 

  • Demonstrated experience in a professional, high-performance, project-oriented organizational environment.

  • Exhibit strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, with a proven talent for building and leading successful teams to achieve common goals.

  • Proficient in both written and spoken English for effective collaboration.

  • Demonstrated capability to take ownership of administrative processes and manage the budget for the assigned account, ensuring financial accountability and efficiency.

  • Based in the Netherlands and available to work 1-2 days per week from our Amsterdam office.
