ABOUT THE ROLE
This position will support and own the client liaison function for various or assigned payer contracts, by telephone, text, email, EHR (electronic health record system) messaging, and fax. The role includes communicating with clients/patients and payers to ensure that all client demographics, insurance information, and appointment details are communicated and recorded in preparation for successful virtual encounters. Additionally, this role supports clinicians by providing initial set-up in the EHR, coordinates completion of encounter notes, supporting ongoing EHR mapping and taxonomy standardization, and stays informed and up-to-date on EHR vendor improvements and new features to most effectively benefit the practice.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate with insurance companies/referrers/payers to document all details of client referral, insurance information, authorization date ranges and credentials.
Interact with providers to book therapy, psychiatry, and/or complementary treatment sessions. Communications can and will include gathering payment information, demographic data, further insurance details, and confirming appointment dates and times.
Works with and familiarizes self with the practices and policies of assigned insurance carriers.
Uses personal computer to communicate by telephone, fax, email, text, EHR message.
Owns the provider experience from end-to-end for groups of clients covered by specific health insurance carriers.
Coordinates effectively with providers to ensure timely completion of encounter notes, troubleshoot and solve user issues with the EHR system, and provide ongoing support where required.
Work with chief clinical officer to ensure compliance with insurance contracts and assist with periodic contract reviews, and continuous quality improvement projects.
Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma: some post-secondary education at AA or beyond is desirable. Medical office certification is preferred.
Two plus years working in a healthcare setting, preferably in behavioral/mental health working directly with patients/clients/providers and with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
