The Role and Team
A phenomenal opportunity exists within Medallia’s Research & Development PMO Team as we are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager. We are looking for a business leader who also has Program / Project Management expertise and a strong technical background. Our ideal candidate will thrive in ambiguity, orienting teams to a common set of goals, and in developing and executing plans to achieve those goals.
Please note that this position is based in the US, reporting directly to the VP of R&D PMO.
Responsibilities
- Initiate, plan and execute multiple concurrent Strategic Initiatives and programs varying in size/scope/complexity, spanning across several different teams and organizations.
- Take personal responsibility for the success and health of the Strategic Initiatives under your care and act as a change agent to drive operational efficiencies into process, people and tooling.
- Proactively identify, manage, and address technical challenges & risks in all assigned areas; work with teams and management to mitigate these risks before they become issues.
- Maintain a deep, technical end-to-end understanding of the solution being built, its upstream/downstream dependencies and impacts, and the resulting customer journey experienced by our users.
- Be sought after by leadership for “the real story” and craft communications that can be consumed at different levels of the organization - from executive-level presentations to materials consumed by engineering/program teams.
- Propose solutions and consult on platform/roadmap changes. Champion long lasting architecture along with documentation.
- Shield team members by answering both technical and business-related questions on behalf of the team.
- Continually pursue delivery excellence by increasing team velocity, efficiency and throughput.
- Understand cloud-based software development, web services, APIs, and cloud computing.
- Amplify your impact by educating and mentoring peers within and outside of the PMO.
- Identify opportunities to improve execution of the organization as a whole, to increase engineering productivity through tools and process improvements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of leadership experience in Product / Engineering / PMO
- 6+ years of experience working closely with C-level executives
- 5+ years of experience in Cloud / SaaS
- Demonstrated expertise in program management with large-scale initiatives leading broad programs across organizations in a matrixed, globally-diverse workforce
- Deep knowledge of Software Development & Product Life Cycle Methodologies and Go-To-Market
- Advanced understanding of SDLC, Project Management, Product Life-Cycle Methodologies, Best Practices, and how to apply them
- Advanced understanding of Jira / Confluence
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of people management skills
- PMP, CSM, CPO, PgMP, IAPM, CISSP, ITIL, Six Sigma certifications
- Experience managing the creation of AI solutions and taking them to market
- Experience with hybrid cloud solutions
- Acquisition Integration experience
- Adept at cultural change management
- Ability to thrive and succeed in a dynamic environment not slowed down by ambiguity or competing priorities
- Able to effectively modulate the presentation of information based on your audience: everyone from a C-level executive to an Individual Contributor
Medallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $156,800 - $282,000 USD. This position is bonus eligible. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. Medallia considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, candidate’s work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
