Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hello, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

We're looking for someone based in London or within commuting distance to our campus. The buzzing Canva London campus features several buildings around beautiful leafy Hoxton Square in Shoreditch. While our global headquarters is in Sydney, Australia, London is our HQ for Europe, with all kinds of teams based here, plus event spaces to gather our team and communities. You'll experience a warm welcome from our Vibe team at front of house, amazing home cooked food, and a variety of workspaces to hang out with your teammates or get solo work done. That said, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals and so you have choice in where and how you work.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

We're looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join Canva's Payroll party, to be responsible for leading the end-to-end payroll process for multiple countries, ensuring Canvanauts are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role is a hybrid role attached to our London office.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Preparing end-to-end payroll processing for multiple countries, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Apply payroll laws, regulations, and tax requirements globally, ensuring our payroll processes are compliant.
  • Driving continuous improvement within the payroll team and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency, data integrity and accuracy.
  • Providing analytical skills by catching and escalating complex payroll issues and ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to communicate and implement payroll-related changes, policies, and procedures.
  • As the Payroll team continues to transform processes and systems, this will be a great opportunity to be involved in multiple projects and initiatives.

You're probably a match if

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Global Payroll Management Institute (GPMI) designation is a plus.
  • You have payroll processing experience in the UK, Austria or the Czech Republic. US Payroll experience is a plus.
  • You have a generalist understanding payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor legislation globally.
  • You pay attention to the details, and ensure accuracy in payroll calculations and data entry.
  • You’re proficient in using payroll software and systems such as ADP, Workday or similar platforms, and have proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, experience in macros is a plus.
  • You have managed the implementation of new payroll, whether that be a new country or an acquisition.
  • You have been part of a payroll transformation project.
  • You’re an exceptional communicator who can work cross-functionally, solve problems creatively, and implement solutions.
