Job description

Description

At Shutterfly, we make life’s experiences unforgettable. We believe there is extraordinary power in the self-expression. That’s why our family of brands helps customers create products and capture moments that reflect who they uniquely are.

We are seeking a seasoned leader in User Experience Design and Research to help us deliver extraordinary experiences for our customers. The Senior Director of UX Design and Research will lead a team to articulate the strategy and design for the Shutterfly and Snapfish websites and mobile apps. You will be joining a team that will have the technology support to significantly uplift and innovate our experiences to better meet customer needs – along with leadership support to invest in modernizing our experiences.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • You can develop a compelling, north star vision for the design of our experiences and clearly communicate it to stakeholders and partners.
  • You have an eye for simplification – you can make complex experiences feel effortless and delightful for users.
  • You love interacting with customers and understanding the perspectives of all types of users – particularly the voices that are not being heard. You put customers at the center of your design.
  • You have a strong understanding of e-commerce best practices across web and mobile app experiences, with deep expertise in designing for both.
  • You thrive on data – both qualitative and quantitative – and use it to inform what you focus on improving and how you can deliver on business outcomes.
  • You enjoy partnering with Product and Engineering, knowing when to push and when to compromise to deliver the best customer experience.
  • You know what great design looks like and have an ability to earn the trust of your cross-functional peers and leaders to influence action, but are also open and responsive to feedback.
  • You’re a coach that people want to play for – you set a clear strategy, inspire your team to improve, and create a culture of fun and connection.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 15+ years in UX design
  • 10+ years of experience leading UX design teams – both onshore and offshore; experience managing design agencies to deliver on specific projects.
  • 5+ years managing user research and testing teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
