Your Impact:
Wind Turbine Traveling Technicians (Composite Repair) specialize in conducting inspection and corrective repair of composite Wind Turbine components, utilizing established procedures, with the highest regard for health, safety, and environmental compliance. Wind Turbine Traveling Composite Technician will be responsible for internal and external inspection and repair of blades, nacelles, and other composite components, and will carry out tasks such as sanding, cleaning, cutting and lay-up of fiberglass, carbon fiber and resin materials. As required, they may also assist in service and repair work on other wind turbine components, as well as related equipment and balance-of-plant.
This position is 100% remote.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) as required to maintain safe working environment.
- Evaluate, inspect, diagnose and document internal and external Composite Blade damage, then photograph and assemble documentation as required.
- Perform coating and structural repairs of internal and external composite structures, such as wind turbine blades and nacelles.
- Modify and repair fiberglass, carbon fiber, resin and other composite materials as needed.
- Interpret engineering drawings and lamination schedules.
- Complete and maintain required company and client documentation and records, using computer-based service reporting tools and procedures.
Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs.
Core Experience
- Must be GE LOTO Certified
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with Composite materials in any industry.
- Understanding of mix ratios for all composite repair chemicals
- Read and understand electrical schematic drawings.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
Physical/Work Environment
At Pearce safety is our number one concern.
- Ability and willingness to climb a wind turbine vertically at least 300 feet.
- Maintain a weight between 120 and 280 pounds, including clothing and boots, for OSHA safety compliance.
- Lift and move equipment as needed (more than 50 pounds).
- Work in an indoor or outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions with blowing pollen, dust, and grasses.
- Ability to walk up to 3 miles per day on terrain such as gravel, pavement, grass, etc.
