Your missions

Description

In this role, you will play a key part in managing patient scheduling and registration processes. Your main responsibilities will include verifying and collecting patient information, both in person and over the phone, and accurately recording this information in our electronic medical record system. You will work to ensure a smooth and efficient scheduling process while providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Registration and Scheduling
    • Use web-based systems to register and schedule patients efficiently.
    • Accurately enter patient details, including clinical, demographic, and insurance information, into our electronic medical record system.
    • Provide clear explanations of scheduled procedures and instructions to patients.
    • Ensure all system documentation is up-to-date and accurately reflects patient interactions and service details.
    • Explain legal forms and obtain necessary signatures from patients or authorized representatives.
    • Understand and adhere to compliance standards, including EMTALA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Eligibility and Authorization Management
    • Correctly identify and select the patient's insurance carrier for the required medical services.
    • Use web-based systems to verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and to manage authorization requirements.
    • Ensure that insurance authorizations are obtained and documented as needed for various medical services.
    • Have a basic understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding for documentation purposes.
  • Financial Counseling
    • Be familiar with insurance requirements, including Medicare, Medicaid, and other commercial payers.
    • Educate patients on their insurance coverage and available financial assistance programs.
    • Collect patient financial responsibilities and manage payment entries and reconciliations securely.
  • Revenue Cycle Support
    • Handle PBX Switchboard functions, including answering and routing calls, paging, and managing departmental call volumes.
    • Assist clinical departments with patient account information, provider orders, insurance coverage questions, and financial assistance.
  • Compliance and Safety
    • Report safety incidents promptly and attend all required safety training.
    • Stay current with relevant state and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
    • Ensure certifications and licenses are up-to-date and complete all mandatory training in a timely manner.
Qualifications

  • Education
    • High School Diploma or GED is required.
    • Medical Terminology coursework is preferred.
  • Certification & Licensures
    • Fingerprint clearance cards are required for on-site positions. This is not necessary for remote roles.
  • Experience
    • Basic computer skills with keyboarding speed of 25-35 words per minute are preferred.
    • At least one year of call center or customer service experience, or experience in a medical facility, is preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is preferred.
Additional Information

The role involves using computers and electronic devices as part of daily responsibilities. Competence in using these tools is essential.
